Recently, the 24th Shanghai International Art Festival in China kicked off. As an important part of this year's art festival, on October 18th, the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural Week officially began, and the "New Life - Guangdong Art Centennial Exhibition" was held at the Shanghai Art Museum (China Art Palace) to meet the audience. The Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural Week is jointly organized by the Propaganda Department of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government Bureau of Culture. Through activities such as art exhibitions, stage performances, outdoor performances of intangible cultural heritage "Art Sky", art education, international performing arts conferences, and international dialogues, it vividly showcases the cultural innovation vitality and diverse charm of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, promoting deep cultural integration and innovative development between the two regions to a new level. The highly anticipated "Life is New - Guangdong Art Centennial Exhibition" has attracted numerous citizens, experts, and scholars to attend since its debut. The exhibition gathers about 800 pieces/sets of Guangdong art masterpieces, with an exhibition area of nearly 20000 square meters. With a broad academic perspective and a systematic curatorial structure, multiple thematic sections and special projects are interwoven and narrated, supplemented by detailed historical documents and visual materials, presenting the innovative process of Guangdong art over the past century. Among them, the seven main theme sections of the exhibition are "Brave Leading the Tide - The Western Painting Movement in Guangdong", "Art Revolution - Lingnan Painting School and Chinese Painting Research Association", "Dagger Shooting - Emerging Woodcut Movement and Comics", "Passionate Years - Serving the People and Praising the Times", "Opening up and Reform - Guangdong Art in Reform and Opening up", "Hundred Flowers Compete for Beauty - Innovation and Creation to Build New Peaks" and "Wind Up the South - Contemporary Art Practice". Using classic works as carriers, the exhibition extends its connotation from different dimensions, not only showcasing the unique charm of Lingnan art masters, but also interpreting the inheritance and innovation of Guangdong art from a contemporary perspective, presenting a three-dimensional picture of the development of Guangdong art to the audience. Among the three special projects, the "Case Study of Lingnan Artists" consists of two sections: "Eternal Brightness of Mountains and Moons - Case Study of Guan Shanyue" and "Pine Wind and Three Realms - Case Study of Li Xiongcai", presenting the charm and expression of works by Lingnan masters. Starting from Guangzhou: Guangzhou Triennale Literature Exhibition "is a comprehensive exhibition series covering contemporary art, imaging, and design, independently planned by Guangdong Museum of Art. Through collections and archives, it outlines the development of the Triennale and presents its cutting-edge vision and cultural responsibility as a platform for contemporary art in the south. The organizer stated that the Lingnan School of Painting, known as a cultural treasure of Lingnan, played its pioneering role in innovation in the open and fertile land of Shanghai. The hosting of this exhibition is a tribute to this period of history and a contemporary continuation of cultural cooperation between the two regions. Guangdong and Shanghai join hands to build an art dialogue platform through exhibitions, hoping to promote cultural exchange and collaborative development between the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta, vividly showcasing the fruitful achievements of the two places in promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent traditional Chinese culture.
