The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology held the "High end Forum on Generative Artificial Intelligence Governance and Cultural Co creation" on the 30th. The Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Lin Dingguo, shares insightful views on the credibility and responsibility of the era of generative artificial intelligence; Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and Chung Lai ling, Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data of Hong Kong, explain the latest developments in the policy and regulatory framework of generative artificial intelligence from the perspective of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government; Acting Director of Intellectual Property in Hong Kong, Eric Tsang, expressed his views on hot topics such as copyright protection and copyright infringement liability for works generated by artificial intelligence; Tang Yingnian, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in Hong Kong, provides a forward-looking perspective on the cultural adaptability of artificial intelligence and how it can be applied to a diverse society. Experts and industry leaders from different fields explore how the governance, technology, and culture of artificial intelligence can collaborate to build an ethical, inclusive, and creative future for AI, focusing on two main themes: "Digital Policy and Artificial Intelligence: Governance, Innovation, and Industrial Practice" and "Artificial Intelligence, Culture, and Society: Building Trust and Shared Value". At the event that day, HKUST also announced the establishment of a Media Intelligence Research Center to promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and cultural creativity. It is reported that the research center gathers scholars from multiple disciplines such as engineering, computer science, business, policy, humanities, and social sciences. Its research core areas cover human-computer interaction, digital governance and literacy, cultural and creative intelligence, interpretable and accountable systems, and emotional and cognitive computing. It will become an important hub for interdisciplinary innovation research at the University of Hong Kong. (New Society)
