Heng Fuguang, spokesman of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, said that by June 2025, the number of effective invention patents and effective registered trademarks authorized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area had reached 817000 and 8524000 respectively. The number of high-value invention patents per 10000 population in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Guangzhou reached 116.9, 73.1, and 41.4, respectively, all far exceeding the national average. To convert patents into practical value, it is necessary to move from a "bookshelf" to a "shelf". It is reported that Guangdong has completed the inventory of nearly 100000 existing patents from 175 universities and research institutions in the province, and has promoted the intention to trade more than 120 high-value patents. According to the "2025 Global Innovation Index" released by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the "Shenzhen Hong Kong Guangzhou" innovation cluster has jumped to the top of the world for the first time, and the "Macao Zhuhai" innovation cluster has entered the global top 100 for two consecutive years.
