2025-11-04
Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation has released a batch of national standards related to consumer protection, covering multiple areas such as consumer product instructions, service experience improvement, and consumer privacy protection, making toy ingredients clear at a glance, furniture maintenance systematic, and privacy protection standardized. How to buy with confidence and clarity in daily shopping? This is a common concern among many consumers. The relevant person in charge of the State Administration for Market Regulation introduced that the series of standards released this time focus on safeguarding consumers' right to know, and systematically promote the revision and upgrading of the national standards for consumer product instructions. As of now, new versions of the "Consumer Product Instructions Part 5: Toys" and "Consumer Product Instructions Part 6: Furniture" have been released, which have added requirements for the main components or materials of toy products, improved requirements for furniture product precautions, maintenance, after-sales service, and other content. At the same time, to meet the needs of e-commerce shopping and environmental protection, non paper forms of user instructions such as QR codes and website links have been added. Ms. Wang, a consumer who is currently shopping for children's toys at a mall in Beijing, told reporters: "When buying toys for children, the most concerned thing is whether the material is safe. The new standard requires clear labeling of the main ingredients, which gives us more confidence when making purchases." She recently noticed that some product instructions have become more detailed when purchasing furniture, especially in terms of maintenance and after-sales service, which are clearly labeled. As a key information carrier connecting products and consumers, consumer product instructions are an important basis for safeguarding consumers' right to know and safety, as well as a technical support for regulating market order and promoting healthy industrial development. ”The relevant person in charge of the Service Standardization Research Institute of the China National Institute of Standardization told reporters that with the continuous upgrading of China's consumer market, the expansion of cross-border e-commerce scale, the widespread popularity of digital products, and the diversification of consumer groups, the current standards are no longer able to meet actual needs in terms of information carrier coverage, internal readability, and scene adaptability. For example, some explanations have problems such as excessive professional terminology and unreasonable font specifications, making it difficult for elderly consumers to understand The digital display method has not been fully incorporated, and the convenience for young people to access information is insufficient In cross-border consumption scenarios, inconsistent labeling of core information can easily lead to confusion and disputes over rights and interests. It is reported that the State Administration for Market Regulation is currently organizing the revision of the "Instructions for the Use of Consumer Goods Part 1: General Provisions" and the national standards for specific categories of instructions for the use of household and similar appliances, cosmetics, textile products, sports equipment, etc., to further improve the labeling content and requirements of relevant product instructions, ensuring that consumers can clearly understand product information and use related products correctly. The revision is guided by the principle of 'protecting consumer rights and improving the practicality of standards', which will help to solve prominent problems between the consumer and industry sides, "said the person in charge of the Service Standardization Research Institute of the China National Institute of Standardization. How to better enhance the consumer experience? The State Administration for Market Regulation has announced the release of four national standards, including the "Model and Method for Quality Service User Experience Evaluation" and the "Requirements and Guidelines for Consumer Vulnerability Design and Inclusive Service Provision". These standards start from service design and run through the entire process of user experience, service evaluation, and complaint handling, guiding organizations to continuously improve service quality and strengthen consumer protection, especially for vulnerable consumers. In the near future, standards for consumer experience centers, commercial district construction, and services will be released to continuously improve diverse consumption scenarios and create a safe and reassuring consumption environment, "said a person in charge of the State Administration for Market Regulation. Protecting consumer privacy is another key focus of this new standard. At present, the national standard "Advanced Requirements for Consumer Privacy Protection in Product and Service Design" has been formulated and released, providing suggestions for fully considering consumer privacy protection requirements throughout the entire lifecycle of product and service design, production, purchase, and use. In the near future, we will also release "Application Cases of Consumer Privacy Protection in Product and Service Design", providing specific examples of consumer privacy protection in typical scenarios such as online retail and smart door locks. Experts believe that these national standards are not only in line with international standards, but also combined with China's actual situation, providing clear guidance for enterprises to protect consumer privacy in product and service design, and helping to build a healthy and orderly digital consumption environment. The State Administration for Market Regulation stated that it will continue to improve the consumer protection standard system, increase the development of national standards in key areas such as consumer rights protection service stations and consumer environment evaluation, help boost consumer confidence, and continuously improve consumer convenience, comfort, and satisfaction.
