The 2025 Super Hub Expo opened on the 4th at the AsiaWorld Expo in Hong Kong, focusing on the planning, design, and development of multimodal transportation hubs, and delving into the challenges and future opportunities faced in this field. The theme of this expo is "Shaping Asia's Future Transportation Hub", bringing together over 120 major airports, ground handling companies, airlines, and civil aviation institutions to showcase the latest technologies and innovative achievements in the field of transportation and logistics. The content covers multiple aspects such as air cargo, automated passenger rapid transit systems, and the highly anticipated low altitude economy. During the expo, multiple summit forums were also held, inviting over a hundred industry experts to participate. More than a hundred specialized seminars were held around nine major themes, including airport leaders, cargo and logistics, and ground operations, to share cutting-edge market insights and development strategies. In her opening speech, Chen Meibao, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated that the Hong Kong Airport Authority is actively relying on the three runway system of the Hong Kong International Airport to improve its cargo throughput capacity. At the same time, it is vigorously developing the "sea air intermodal" mode that links with the mainland, and steadily promoting the construction of a permanent logistics park in Dongguan. She pointed out that with the phased completion of the first phase of the logistics park project starting next month, this model will provide a more seamless and convenient international freight network for goods in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. The Chairman of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, Lin Tianfu, pointed out that the three runway system of Hong Kong International Airport has laid a solid foundation for the long-term development of the aviation industry in Hong Kong. Hong Kong will continue to develop multimodal transport services, allowing mainland passengers to take bonded ferries or buses directly to the restricted area of Hong Kong International Airport, achieving seamless boarding. Zhang Qing, Director of the Development and Planning Department of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, stated that as one of the busiest aviation hubs in the world, Hong Kong International Airport has consistently ranked first in cargo throughput and among the top in passenger throughput for many years. This expo, which focuses on super hubs, is a summary of the past achievements of Hong Kong's civil aviation industry and a declaration to deepen cooperation in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and better serve global aviation connectivity for the future. On that day, the person in charge of an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft exhibitor from Chengdu, Sichuan, stated that Hong Kong, as an important transportation hub in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, is crucial for the construction of regional air transportation and air ground intermodal networks. I hope to use the Expo platform to have in-depth exchanges with airports, operators, and service providers around the world, promote the practical application of products in air ground intermodal transportation scenarios, and make full preparations for seamless integration in the future. This expo will last for 3 days and is expected to attract over 6000 visitors. (New Society)
