Recently, the Ministry of Education, together with the National Health Commission and the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, issued a notice on the scientific protection of children's farsightedness reserve (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice"), promoting the advancement of myopia prevention and control, and taking multiple measures to protect children's farsightedness reserve. The notice points out that comprehensive policies should be implemented according to age groups. Children aged 0 to 3 are prohibited from using video electronic products and should not use their eyes up close. Preschool children aged 3 to 6 should try to avoid contact and use of video electronic products, and reduce prolonged close eye contact. Primary schools should develop and implement physical exercise plans that are suitable for students' physical development, ensuring that students have 2 hours of outdoor activity time every day, cultivating good eye habits, and avoiding excessive premature depletion of farsightedness reserves. The notice requires strengthening eye health examinations. Medical institutions carry out refractive screening according to regulations and monitor children's farsightedness reserve. Primary schools implement a twice per semester vision monitoring system, carry out monitoring of primary school students' vision and farsightedness reserve, and detect myopia risks as early as possible. In terms of precise implementation of early warning management, the "Notice" points out that medical institutions should strengthen the evaluation of children's eye health examination results, and timely guide parents and children to change their bad eye habits and prevent myopia for children who consume their farsightedness reserve too early and too quickly. The Notice requires the promotion of collaborative prevention and control between families and schools, deepening professional science popularization and education, and enhancing the professional skills and qualities of school doctors engaged in myopia prevention and control work.
