The "Haitong Mirror Mirror - Exhibition of Cultural Exchange between China and Portugal from the 16th to the 19th Century" opened on the 7th at the Macau Museum of Art. This exhibition showcases 177 pieces/sets of precious exhibits from the Palace Museum, Portuguese cultural and museum institutions, and the Macao Cultural Bureau. The three major sections of "The Beginning of Porcelain Road", "Integration of Porcelain", and "Palace Dialogue" fully present the multi-level cultural exchanges between China and Portugal from folk trade to official exchanges through the Maritime Silk Road from the 16th to the 19th century, highlighting Macao's unique position as a hub for the intersection of Chinese and Western cultures. The exhibits cover exported ceramics unearthed in Macau, as well as produced and passed down ceramics from China and Portugal, all of which reflect the cultural integration and mutual learning between China and Portugal during that period. To enrich the exhibition experience, the exhibition venue has set up a multimedia interactive area, panoramic images, and QR code voice guided tours. At the same time, multiple educational promotion activities will be launched during the exhibition, including a lecture on "Blue Track: The Influence of Chinese Ceramics on Portuguese Ceramics Since the 16th Century", a youth printmaking workshop, and a Guangcai experience workshop. Chinese music performances will also be held at the exhibition venue. This exhibition is jointly organized by the Cultural Bureau of the Macau SAR Government and the Palace Museum, and will be on display until March 8th next year. (New Society)
