The delivery ceremony of materials for China's assistance to Cuba's household solar equipment project was held on the morning of the 10th at the Port of Mariel, about 50 kilometers west of the Cuban capital Havana. Cuban officials including the First Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, Abad, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rivas, as well as the Chinese Ambassador to Cuba, Hua Xin, attended the ceremony. Abad praised the efficient execution of the Chinese project execution enterprise in his speech, pointing out that the project injects strong impetus into Cuba's energy structure transformation and reflects the joint commitment of both sides to sustainable development. He thanked China for promoting practical solutions through international cooperation and helping Cuba achieve development equity and energy resilience. Huaxin stated that the eastern part of Cuba was hit by Hurricane Melissa last month, causing severe damage, particularly to the power infrastructure. The project assistance equipment will provide stable and clean power support for post disaster recovery. This is not only a practical support for the reconstruction of eastern Cuba, but also reflects the brotherhood between China and Cuba, who share weal and woe. It is reported that the project will provide 5000 sets of 2 kW photovoltaic power generation equipment to the Cuban side, specifically designed to provide safe and reliable basic electricity supply for houses that are not connected to the Cuban national power grid. At present, project aid equipment is gradually arriving in Cuba. (New Society)
