On November 12th, the Southeast Asia Hainan Hong Kong (SEA-H2X) international submarine cable project, initiated and invested in by China Mobile, successfully landed in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong. As the landing party of the project in Hong Kong, China Mobile has successfully promoted the landing work of the Hong Kong section, marking the official start of the construction of the SEA-H2X international submarine cable project in Hong Kong and the completion of the entire line by 2025. It is reported that the SEA-H2X international submarine cable project has a total length of about 6000 kilometers, connecting Hainan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore in China. The project adopts open submarine cable access technology, supports spectrum sharing, significantly enhances the flexible access capability of the network, and deploys multiple underwater core devices to fully meet the high standard requirements of future international communication backbone networks. The SEA-H2X international submarine cable project will closely connect the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, represented by Hong Kong, with Hainan Free Trade Port and major nodes in Southeast Asia. This project fully leverages Hong Kong's strategic hub role in the digital ecosystem, and also opens up an international data artery directly to Southeast Asia for the Hainan Free Trade Port. It strengthens the linkage and development with the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and provides strong support for its digital industry layout and international data center business.
