The opening ceremony of the 2025 China Film Festival was held on the evening of the 23rd at the Sri Lanka National Film Company cinema in Colombo, Sri Lanka, attended by more than 200 people from all walks of life in China and Sri Lanka. This film festival is jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the National Film Administration of China. In his opening speech, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong stated that this film festival not only showcases the charm of contemporary Chinese cinema, but also further deepens cultural exchanges and friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and Sri Lanka. We look forward to Sri Lankan friends taking this film festival as an opportunity to further understand the real, colorful, and thriving contemporary China. Munir Murafel, Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka, stated that culture is an important bridge connecting China and Sri Lanka, and welcomes China to host cultural exchange activities such as the China Film Festival in Sri Lanka. At the opening ceremony, the Chinese science fiction film "The Wandering Earth" was screened and received a warm response. Audience member Ximasi Silva said that the advanced technology and stunning scenes of Earth approaching Jupiter in the film left a deep impression on her. This film festival will last until the 25th, and the warm-up screening activities have been held from the 17th to the 19th. During the film festival, seven Chinese films including "Wandering Earth" and "Fengshen Part 1: Chaoge Fengyun" will be screened.
