At around 9:00 am on November 25th, as Chinese boats 53107, 53108, and 53109 set sail from Jingha Police Pier in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, the 159th China Laos Myanmar Thailand Mekong River Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Operation was officially launched. At the same time, the law enforcement boats from Laos and Myanmar participating in the operation set sail simultaneously from the Mong Mo and Wanbang ports in Laos and Myanmar respectively, and will rendezvous in the designated waters of the Mekong River to jointly carry out joint patrol and law enforcement operations. On November 24th, the delegations of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand held a joint meeting of the commanders of the China Laos Myanmar Thailand Mekong River Joint Patrol Law Enforcement Command in Jinghong, jointly discussing the specific arrangements for a series of law enforcement actions such as full line joint patrol law enforcement, segmented patrols, and joint training, and reaching a consensus. The joint patrol and law enforcement command post was set up on Chinese boat 53109 for this operation, and the commanders of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand led their respective delegations to jointly command the operation. Chinese law enforcement boat 53109 departed from Jingha Police Pier in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan. During the operation, China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand will dispatch 7 law enforcement boats and more than 100 law enforcement officers to carry out joint law enforcement operations such as land and water inspections and joint training in key waters of the Mekong River, jointly cracking down on various cross-border illegal and criminal activities such as drug trafficking, fraud, smuggling, and illegal immigration. In addition, the relevant law enforcement departments of the four countries will also hold a multilateral information exchange meeting in Chiang Kai shek, Thailand to exchange and analyze the current security situation and criminal clues in the Lancang Mekong River Basin, and to consult on key law enforcement cooperation matters in December.
