The Bureau of Cultural Relics of the Xizang Autonomous Region announced on November 27 that during the second phase of the fourth national cultural relics survey in Xizang, the survey teams of seven cities and prefectures in Xizang comprehensively promoted the field survey by taking the county as the unit, and yielded rich results. As of now, 3346 new cultural relics have been discovered in the entire region, with a growth rate of 78.2%. The reporter learned from the Bureau of Cultural Relics of the Xizang Autonomous Region that since Xizang officially launched the fourth national cultural relics survey pilot work in April 2024, up to now, the Xizang Autonomous Region has surveyed a total of 7623 cultural relics resources, including 4277 "three popular" cultural relics. According to the relevant person in charge of the Cultural Relics Bureau of the Xizang Autonomous Region, new cultural relics were found in all county level survey units in the region during the period of the cultural relics survey. Among them, more than 500 cultural relics have been newly discovered in Shigatse, Shannan, and Ali; The Pengyongzhu rock painting in Sagar County, Shigatse City, located at an altitude of 5303.8 meters, has been listed as the highest newly discovered cultural relic site in China. The newly discovered cultural relics include ancient cultural sites, ancient tombs, ancient buildings, grotto temples, stone carvings, as well as important historical sites and representative buildings of modern times. Among them, the key areas of investigation involve famous cities, towns, villages, historical and cultural blocks, traditional villages, industrial cultural relics resources, and representative and iconic museums, memorial halls, etc. In addition, according to the special deployment of the National Cutural Heritage Administration, during the field survey, Xizang also organized and carried out special surveys in 21 border counties, reviewed 1149 cultural relics sites, of which 254 were included in the new discovery, providing a physical basis for border cultural heritage protection and territorial history research.
