Let vocational education have learning, hope, and direction

Drone drivers, intelligent connected vehicle installation and maintenance personnel, industrial vision system operation and maintenance personnel... At the 3rd National Skills Competition held this year, new vocational skills talents appeared, refreshing people's understanding of vocational education. At the same time, some college graduates who go back to vocational schools to forge their own skills have also attracted attention. The Opinions on Promoting the High Quality Development of Modern Vocational Education issued by the Central Office and the State Council propose that by 2035, the overall level of vocational education will enter the forefront of the world, and a skilled society will be basically established. So, how to make vocational education more attractive? Vocational education should have a 'head teacher'. The success of vocational education depends on whether the talents it cultivates can keep up with the needs of society. Vocational education institutions need to work hard to improve their internal strength and make every effort to enhance the quality of teaching. Taking the integration of industry and education as an example, the experience that vocational colleges have explored in long-term education focuses on implementing details and dynamic adjustments, such as how to choose "orders" for order based training and how to teach dual teacher teachers according to their aptitude. Only with "new content" can there be "gold content". Vocational education should have hope. Vocational education in our country was once plagued by the problem of a "dead end" in vocational education, and due to the influence of traditional concepts, some graduates from vocational education colleges were treated differently in the job search process. In recent years, vocational education has gradually established a comprehensive training system of "secondary vocational school vocational college vocational undergraduate graduate", breaking the "academic ceiling" of vocational colleges and effectively enhancing their attractiveness and competitiveness. It should be noted that vocational education has become an increasingly practical choice for many people to cope with changes in the job market and an important way to realize personal value. From a practical perspective, it is not uncommon for vocational education graduates to achieve a "comeback" through a single skill. Wu Canhui, who graduated from Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical College, has been focusing on the field of motor testing for many years and holds more than 30 invention patents; Zheng Qiyuan, a graduate of Yunnan Technician College, won the championship in the 45th WorldSkills Competition, achieving a breakthrough of "zero" gold medals for Chinese athletes in the mobile robot project of the competition. As long as vocational school graduates find their life positioning, work hard, and deeply cultivate their majors, they can have the opportunity to shine in life. Vocational education should have a clear direction. The Outline of the Plan for Building a Strong Education Country (2024-2035) proposes to implement the main responsibility of local governments in coordinating the development of vocational education; Promote the transfer of higher vocational education resources to cities and counties in areas with conditions; Implement the "New Level 8 Worker" system and improve the salary level of frontline skilled personnel in production and service. These measures respond to the current pain points in the development of vocational education and are highly anticipated. In the future, the international competitiveness of vocational education in China will continue to improve. Xinjiang vocational colleges have achieved initial results in joint education with some countries in characteristic fields such as energy and chemical engineering, modern agriculture and animal husbandry through the "Silk Road Vocational Education Alliance". In short, to enhance the attractiveness of vocational education, we need to shift from focusing on single skills to promoting comprehensive human development, so that vocational education can truly have learning opportunities, hope, and direction, and provide important support for industrial upgrading and people's livelihood security.
