The President of the 7th Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Andrew Leung, stated that legislators from different professions and regional backgrounds, shouldering the expectations of the central government, must demonstrate determination and courage in entering the parliament in the future, urgently address the urgent needs of the citizens, and fully cooperate with the SAR government to promote post disaster reconstruction, legislative amendments, funding review, and necessary reforms, making Hong Kong safer and citizens more at ease. Liang Junyan emphasized that this election successfully implemented the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong". The new Legislative Council will have 50 re elected members to continue their experience, as well as 40 new members joining to bring vitality.
