This side event is guided by the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment and hosted by the Chinese Permanent Representative Office to the United Nations Environment Programme. Guo Fang pointed out in her speech that currently, the three major environmental crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution have further deepened their impact on humanity. Facing global challenges, actively joining hands and taking action is the only choice for humanity. China is firmly committed to the high-quality development path of ecological priority, green and low-carbon, and has worked together to promote carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion and growth, creating successful practices in effectively protecting the ecological environment. Guo Haiyan said that in order to protect our home planet, China is willing to join hands with the international community to implement global governance initiatives, strengthen international cooperation, firmly grasp the correct direction of green transformation, build a more just and reasonable global environmental governance system, and jointly create a better future for mankind. Dechen Tsering, Director of the Asia Pacific Regional Office of the Environmental Protection Agency, speaking on behalf of the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Anderson, pointed out that the global environmental and climate impacts are increasingly severe, and there is an urgent need for global cooperation to address them. China has achieved significant results in improving air quality, addressing pollution, and promoting energy transition. China's nationally determined contribution targets reflect sustained and firm climate action. The attending representatives believe that the successful practice of China's ecological civilization construction provides a reference solution for countries to achieve harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Countries should further consolidate consensus, practice multilateralism, advocate people-oriented, strengthen pragmatic cooperation, and jointly build a clean and beautiful world. The 7th United Nations Environment Assembly opened in Nairobi on the 8th, and nearly 6000 representatives from around the world will discuss global environmental governance and sustainable action under multilateral cooperation during the 5-day session.
