It is expected that the peak period for land outbound travel will be on December 25th, with about 689000 people leaving the country, while the peak period for inbound travel will be on December 28th, with about 695000 people. The Immigration Department of the Special Administrative Region Government estimates that the Lo Wu Control Point, Lok Ma Chau Branch Line Control Point, and Shenzhen Bay Control Point will be very busy during the holiday period, with an estimated daily average of about 225000, 201000, and 161000 people entering and leaving the country respectively. Due to the New Year countdown event, the Hong Kong SAR government and the Shenzhen municipal government have discussed extending the service hours of the New Year's checkpoint. The mainland port authorities have reported to the national port authorities for approval according to the procedural requirements, and the details will be announced as soon as possible.
