Currently, the world is undergoing accelerated changes over the past century, with a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation accelerating breakthroughs. Education is increasingly becoming a key factor in enhancing a country's core competitiveness and winning strategic initiative. During the "14th Five Year Plan" period, the education front deeply recognized the new strategic position of education, placed the development of education in the big goal of Chinese path to modernization, and continued to explore the path of education supporting the modern industrial system and high-level scientific and technological self-reliance. The 2025 University Science and Technology Achievement Trade Fair will open in Guangzhou on December 16th. This grand event with the theme of "Collaboration between Schools and Enterprises, Integration of Innovation: Supporting the Development of New Quality Productivity" attracted more than 600 universities to register, collected over 1900 demands from enterprises, and collected more than 3000 scientific and technological achievements and over 260 entrepreneurial projects for college students. The hot trading fair scene is a progressive attitude of the education front during the 14th Five Year Plan period, continuously breaking through the "wall" with a systematic "combination punch", and building a complete chain from basic research and technological breakthroughs to achievement transformation and market application. Building a platform to form an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem that gathers government, industry, academia, research, and financial elements - in order to accelerate the efficiency of transforming scientific and technological achievements in universities and enable more scientific and technological achievements to be transformed into real productivity as soon as possible, the Ministry of Education has systematically laid out and continuously promoted the construction of regional technology transfer and transformation centers for universities across the country. Since the first regional center was established in Jiangsu in September 2024, it has collected 4696 achievements from universities across the country and promoted the transformation of 149 projects. At the Guangzhou Science and Technology Fair, the National University Regional Technology Transfer and Transformation Center (Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area) was also unveiled and established. Forming a team to create innovative pioneers and new industrial forces - the finals and concurrent activities of the China International College Students Innovation Competition (2025) will be held in Zhengzhou, Henan from October 13th to 15th. A set of numbers that highlight the sharpness of youth: Among the five project types added to the main track of the competition, there are 92000 low altitude economy track projects, 63000 biotechnology track projects, 19000 quantum technology track projects, 80000 new energy track projects, and 94000 new material track projects. Xi'an Jiaotong University relies on the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Port, accelerates the optimization and reshaping of national university science and technology parks, and deeply implements the innovation project of "industry education integration and collaborative education"; Huazhong University of Science and Technology relies on the university science park to build the first concept verification center in Hubei Province, expanding students' channels from "laboratory imagination" to "market practice". The reshaping of national university science and technology parks is steadily advancing, the construction of technology manager teams is strengthening, and the reform of the ownership system of scientific and technological achievements in universities is deepening in multiple regions... Education forces are accelerating their integration into the national innovation system, actively seeking regional coordination, and continuously making new breakthroughs in serving and supporting economic and social development. Through continuous training, the industry urgently needs new talents. After three years of reform, in the summer of 2025, the special pilot project for the reform of engineering master's and doctoral training will reach a milestone moment: the first batch of more than 2000 master's students in the special pilot project for the reform of engineering master's and doctoral training will graduate on schedule. This marks the first time that the integration of industry and education has achieved full process integration, effectively realizing the organized, systematic, and large-scale joint training of engineering master's and doctoral students between schools and enterprises, and exploring an effective path for the independent training of national strategic talents. Entering Weifang, a manufacturing hub in Shandong, the close connection between vocational education and industrial demand can be seen everywhere. In front of a high-precision CNC machine tool at the Goertek Manufacturing Training Center, Xiao Zhang, a mechanical and electrical major student from Shandong Vocational College of Transportation, is skilled in his techniques. His growth trajectory is clear and efficient: he studied theory at school in the first year, received practical training at the Goertek Manufacturing Training Center in the second year, and became competent in the enterprise in the third year. By deepening the integration of industry and education, Weifang has established a skilled talent training model of "entering the enterprise upon enrollment and taking up the post upon graduation", and vocational education has truly become a source of technological innovation and a fertile ground for talent growth. At the end of 2025, the Ministry of Education will hold the second phase of the "Double High Construction Plan" and the pilot promotion meeting for comprehensive vocational education reform. The new "Double High Construction Plan" has established 60 "Double High" construction schools and 160 "Double High" construction professional groups, focusing on building a "national team" of skilled universities. Among them, innovating the collaborative talent cultivation model and promoting the bundled implementation of the "Double High Construction Plan" and the high skilled talent cluster training plan are important contents. Behind the comprehensive upgrade of the education model is the solid support of disciplinary specialties. In recent years, there has been an unprecedented level of reform in the adjustment of disciplines and majors - the Ministry of Education has deployed high-level measures to optimize the setting of disciplines and majors, guiding universities to add 3715 undergraduate majors and revoke or suspend 6638 admissions; 12000 new majors were added in vocational colleges, and over 8200 majors were abolished; Strengthening the strategic urgent need for the extraordinary layout of disciplines and majors, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in engineering, agriculture, and medicine account for over 50%, 60%, and 80% of the enrollment respectively, and the "Strong Foundation Plan" has admitted more than 40000 people. According to statistics, during the 14th Five Year Plan period, higher education has provided a total of 55 million talents to society, and vocational education has supplied more than 70% of new high-quality and skilled talents for modern industries. Peking University has identified the annual theme of 2025 as "science and technology create a new year", more actively integrating into the national strategy, serving the overall situation of Chinese path to modernization, serving as the main force of basic research, and becoming the source of major scientific and technological breakthroughs. Exploring the forefront of technology for a better life - The Network and Cloud Computing team at Tianjin University has made key progress in the field of wireless sensing. According to statistics, during the "14th Five Year Plan" period, colleges and universities won more than 75% of the the State Natural Science Award and the Technological Invention Award, and more than 55% of the Science and Technology Progress Award, especially in the fields of life science, quantum technology, artificial intelligence, material science and space science, and achieved a number of original achievements. The sustainable development of philosophy, social science, culture and art also achieved remarkable results.
