Did you come across an advertisement claiming 'overseas monthly salary of tens of thousands'? Be careful of fraud! The court exposes the routine

Criminal gangs use short video platforms to spread false information about "high salary prospects for overseas employment", demanding property in the name of intermediary fees, visa fees, etc. After the victim pays the fees, they cut off contact, causing the victim to suffer property losses. On January 5th, the Beijing High People's Court released five typical cases of punishing telecommunications network fraud in accordance with the law, fully leveraging the warning, deterrence, and educational guidance role of typical cases. Case two, the fraud case of defendants Qi and Liu, is a typical case of telecommunications network fraud carried out by fictitious high paying overseas workers. The case shows that in April 2022, Qi and Tian (on the run) conspired to establish a Beijing based private entry and exit service company. Qi serves as the legal representative of the company and is responsible for the daily operation and management of the company. Qi and Tian recruited defendants Liu, Lin, Fang, and others as business team leaders, and recruited a large number of salespersons to solicit customers and defraud money under the pretext of handling overseas labor services. Qi and others placed advertisements on online platforms using keywords such as "going abroad for labor services" to attract customers who are willing to work abroad. Salespeople used language to attract customers with low entry requirements and high monthly salaries, as well as refunding fees if unable to do so. They gained customer trust by signing contracts, creating fake invitation letters, and other methods to deceive customers into paying fees. After investigation, it was found that Qi and others defrauded more than 430 victims in the name of the company, totaling over 4.783 million yuan. Due to the company's failure to handle overseas labor services, a large number of victims complained. In order to delay and evade refunds, Tian, together with Yu and others, registered and established a private entry and exit service limited company. The company also recruited a large number of salespersons to continue to carry out fraud in the above way. After investigation, it was found that Liu served as the company manager and assisted Tian, Yu, and others in defrauding more than 1100 victims in the name of the company, totaling more than 15.7 million yuan. This case has been tried by the People's Court of Shijingshan District, Beijing and has now taken legal effect. The court believes that the defendants Qi and Liu, with the purpose of illegal possession, colluded with others to fabricate facts and conceal the truth to defraud others of their property, and the amount involved was particularly large. Both defendants' actions have constituted the crime of fraud. Qi is the principal offender in the joint crime and has truthfully confessed to the main criminal facts and admitted guilt and punishment after appearing in court, while Liu is an accomplice and has a repeat offender and admitted guilt and punishment. The court sentenced the two defendants to 11 years and 6 months in prison and fined them for fraud. The Beijing Higher People's Court stated that cracking down on such fraud is not only an important measure to safeguard the property safety of the people, but also an important means to regulate the order of the foreign labor cooperation market and ensure the healthy development of the foreign-related labor industry. This case serves as a warning to workers who intend to work abroad to verify the qualifications of intermediary companies and service agencies, refuse to pay fees to unknown parties, distinguish visa types, and identify scams that claim "tourist visas can also be used for work abroad".
