On the 13th, the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Hospital and the Government Chinese Medicine Testing Center held a plaque unveiling ceremony with the theme of "Flagship Navigation, Connecting the World". Li Jiachao stated that the SAR government actively cooperates with the national strategy, fully integrates and serves the overall development of traditional Chinese medicine in the country, and will make every effort to promote the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine. It will also fully leverage Hong Kong's unique advantages of "relying on the motherland and connecting the world" under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, making Hong Kong a bridgehead for traditional Chinese medicine to go global. Li Jiachao also mentioned that the SAR government announced Hong Kong's first "Blueprint for the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine" in December 2025, outlining a long-term vision for the development of traditional Chinese medicine. As the two flagship institutions for the development of traditional Chinese medicine, Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Hospital and Government Chinese Medicine Testing Center will cooperate with the blueprint plan to drive the development of different fields such as traditional Chinese medicine services, talent training, and industrial research. Lei Haichao, Director of the National Health Commission, stated in his speech that since the Special Administrative Region government announced the establishment of a traditional Chinese medicine hospital in 2014 and a government traditional Chinese medicine testing center in 2015, after more than ten years of continuous efforts, these two landmark projects have been officially completed and put into use, and will play a positive role in promoting the internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine. Lei Haichao put forward relevant suggestions on the development of traditional Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, including focusing on Hong Kong, serving the public, promoting the coordinated development of industry, academia, and research, integrating resources, promoting innovation, and assisting in the construction of a highland for traditional Chinese medicine in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. He hopes to take the opening of Hong Kong's first traditional Chinese medicine hospital as an opportunity to promote the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Traditional Chinese Medicine Medical Association and a cluster of traditional Chinese medicine hospitals. By establishing academicians, masters of traditional Chinese medicine, and national renowned TCM workstations, we aim to attract high-level TCM experts and versatile talents from home and abroad to gather in the Greater Bay Area, create a highland for TCM talents, and promote TCM to better enter the world. Zhou Ji, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Yu Yanhong, Director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Lu Chongmao, Director of the Medical and Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, attended the unveiling ceremony.
