During the 14th Five Year Plan period, the Capital Museum planned more than 80 original exhibitions and received a total of 9.25 million visitors, many of which won national awards. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Shoubo, and the museum plans to launch 15 distinctive original temporary exhibitions. The Capital Museum released its exhibition plan for 2026 on the 3rd. This year, the museum will focus on the integration of "cultural, commercial, and sports exhibitions", continuing to create influential exhibitions and special shows with the core of the series on the origin of Chinese civilization and the series on the exchange and mutual learning of world civilizations. The Shoubo Museum is currently holding the "Banner Agitation of Youyan - Beijing Tianjin Hebei Temple Fair Cultural Exhibition". The exhibition focuses on the three core elements that make up the temple fair - faith, entertainment, and commerce. It gathers more than 260 precious components from museums in the three places, and presents the temple fair scene in a three-dimensional manner in the museum space, interpreting this long-standing and vivid cultural tradition from multiple perspectives and angles. On February 3rd, the "Banner Agitation of Youyan - Beijing Tianjin Hebei Temple Fair Cultural Exhibition" was on display at the Capital Museum. From May to October, the Shoubo Museum will hold the "Maya and Andean Civilization Exhibition". Photo by Yi Haifei, a reporter from China News Service. After two years of planning, this exhibition is the first time that Shoubo has created a large-scale exhibition with one exhibition in the entire museum, full immersion, and full narrative. The exhibition space and the immersive public experience area are about 5000 square meters each, with a total exhibition area of 10000 square meters, gathering no less than 800 exquisite cultural relics. The number of exhibits and the scale of cooperative units have both reached the highest level in the history of the first expo. The Beijing Grand Canal Museum (Shoubo East Hall) will hold the "Strengthening the Awareness of the Chinese National Community Series - Yunnan Historical and Cultural Exhibition" in May. The exhibition mainly showcases the bronze culture of Yunnan from the Warring States period to the Han Dynasty, and gathers several major archaeological achievements in Yunnan since 1949. It is the first historical and cultural exhibition of Yunnan held by the first museum; In July, the museum will hold the "Ordos Bronze Exhibition", focusing on the bronze civilization of northern nomadic peoples in China, witnessing the formation process of the diverse and integrated pattern of Chinese civilization. In September, the Shoubo Museum will hold the "Beijing Historical and Cultural Series - Fengtai Historical and Cultural Exhibition". This exhibition will showcase the long history and rich accumulation of Fengtai District in relation to Beijing's urban development, capital city construction, and ancient capital culture. At the end of this year, the Shoubo Museum will hold the "Beijing Capital City Culture Series - Marco Polo's View of the Yuan Dynasty Capital City: Special Exhibition on the 750th Anniversary of the Founding of the Yuan Dynasty Capital City". The exhibition follows the narrative logic of Marco Polo's visit to China, especially during his time in the Yuan Dynasty, and his impact on the world. The exhibited cultural relics are mainly from the collections of the First Museum, and are borrowed from multiple domestic museums such as the Forbidden City and the National Museum, as well as museums in Italy and other countries. The exhibition is curated with a global perspective and contributes to the construction of the Beijing International Exchange Center. In addition, the branch of the Capital Museum, Baita Temple, will also launch exhibitions such as "The Western Heavenly Fan Xiang - Anigo and His Art World" in June this year, and the Lao She Memorial Hall has launched exhibitions such as "Looking Up to See Joy, Welcoming Spring and Receiving Blessings - Beijing's Spring Festival".
