The Director of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, Rosamund Law, recently stated that according to estimates from the Hong Kong Immigration Department, there were approximately 1.43 million mainland tourists visiting Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year holiday. According to the Hong Kong Tourism Authority and industry estimates, it is expected that about 2200 tour groups will enter Hong Kong by then, with a significant increase in the daily average number of inbound groups compared to last year's Labor Day and National Day Golden Week in mainland China. Luo Shupei said that there are different programs in Hong Kong from the first to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, including floats, fireworks displays, New Year horse racing, and the "New Year Cup" football match. After the performance, the float will be arranged to be displayed in different locations, including Kai Tak Sports Park, which is believed to attract tourists. Before the announcement of the fireworks display on the second day of junior high school, 70% to 80% of hotels in Hong Kong had already been booked, and it is expected to further increase after the announcement. Luo Shupei said that Hong Kong has made multiple preparations for tourists coming to Hong Kong. In addition to customs and transportation departments and institutions, strict law enforcement will also be carried out against issues such as "black" and "refusal to take passengers". In addition, the "Yau Ma Tei Police Station Light and Shadow Tour" exhibition will extend its opening hours, and the closing day on Mondays will be cancelled during the Lunar New Year period. In terms of ecotourism, Luo Shupei said that the SAR government's Fisheries and Conservation Department will increase manpower to deal with environmental hygiene and crowd control issues. Due to the fact that the popular tourist destination of Xiantian Bay requires mountain or waterway access on weekdays, personnel and contractors will be stationed during holidays, and closed-circuit television will be installed to monitor the flow of people. If necessary, additional manpower will be deployed. At another hotspot, the border area will be subject to crowd control at the entrance according to the situation. (New Society)
