A merchant told reporters that small knives, scissors, and other items pose a certain level of danger to minors, so the store generally does not purchase large quantities. Generally, only ordinary small knives or ceramic blade carving knives are sold, and it is best to know how old the child should use them. For younger children, it is not recommended to purchase or use knives with longer blades, which can be dangerous, "said a merchant. On the same day, the reporter searched for "ballpoint pen knife" on the e-commerce platform and found that there are still stores selling the same product with an average price of around 10 yuan. The promotional keywords for the product are mostly "self-protection" and "unpacking express delivery", while also indicating that it can be used for scenarios such as sharpening pencils, cutting fruits, and outdoor camping. The reporter noticed that some stores clearly indicate on the purchase page that "only users over 18 years old are supported to purchase", and real name identity information needs to be registered before purchasing. The reporter consulted multiple stores as a consumer, and one of the merchants explicitly stated that the "ballpoint pen knife" has already been sharpened and is relatively sharp. For safety reasons, it is not recommended for minors to purchase it. According to a search by reporters, in January 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued a notice on strengthening the safety management of key children's and student products.
