Hunan will add 80000 high-quality high school places

Recently, the reporter learned from the press conference of the top ten key livelihood issues in Hunan Province that this year, Hunan will expand 80000 high-quality public high school places, and simultaneously promote the upgrading of 1000 primary and secondary school canteens and the addition of 300000 square meters of provincial university buildings. Yu Weiliang, a member of the Education Working Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and a member of the Party Group of the Provincial Department of Education, introduced that Hunan will solidly promote the implementation of projects from three aspects: first, through revitalizing and tapping the potential of a batch, renovating and expanding a batch, and building a new batch, orderly expand high-quality public ordinary high school places; Secondly, we will coordinate the allocation of 800 million yuan in central and provincial subsidies, guide cities and counties to increase investment, and simultaneously promote the standardization construction of high schools, ensuring that new school places are "well built, usable, and of high quality"; Thirdly, we will deepen the implementation of the revitalization action for ordinary high schools in counties, establish and improve group based education and urban-rural pairing assistance mechanisms, support the entrusted assistance of subordinate universities in counties, continue to implement basic education assistance actions, and continuously expand the coverage of high-quality educational resources. At the same time, 1000 primary and secondary school canteens will be upgraded in quality. In 2026, the provincial finance of Hunan Province will allocate a total of 360 million yuan to support the upgrading of 1000 primary and secondary school canteens, including 200 newly built or renovated canteens, and 800 canteens with updated facilities and equipment. In addition, Hunan will add 300000 square meters of campus area for provincial universities. (New Society)
