Mastering the New Era of Intelligent Communication with Mainstream Values
2026-02-13
In the spring of 2026, we will celebrate the tenth anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on February 19th. Ten years ago, General Secretary Xi Jinping profoundly summarized the responsibilities and missions of the Party's news and public opinion work at a symposium on the Party's news and public opinion work with 48 words: "Raise the banner, lead the direction, focus on the center, serve the overall situation, unite the people, inspire morale, cultivate people, unite efforts, clarify fallacies, distinguish right from wrong, connect China and the world," elevating it to the strategic height of "governing the country and ensuring national security. This decade has been a decade of profound changes in the media landscape, as well as a decade of rapid advancement in information technology. If we were faced with the "buzz" brought about by the Internet ten years ago, today, with the full penetration of generative artificial intelligence, deep synthesis technology, and algorithm recommendation, we are in a new public opinion ecology of "everything is media, and human-computer symbiosis". In the current era where various arguments such as "computing power replacing pen power" are rampant, revisiting the important speech of "2.19" has become the "fixed star" for us to discern direction in the fog of technology. We must soberly recognize that technology can be infinitely iterated, but the fundamental principles of news and public opinion work cannot be changed; The forms of communication can vary greatly, but the political soul of media work cannot be lost. Defend the height of "guidance": Use mainstream values to control technological rationality and firmly grasp the initiative of public opinion. The important speech of "2.19" clearly pointed out that political direction must be given top priority, and the Party's news and public opinion work must adhere to the principle of Party spirit. The most fundamental aspect is to uphold the Party's leadership over news and public opinion work. In today's world where artificial intelligence is deeply involved in content production and distribution, this principle is particularly crucial. Artificial intelligence is essentially a technological rationality based on probability and logic. It has no values, but there are people who design models and apply technology; The code is neutral, but the media that uses technology for information dissemination has a clear stance. We cannot allow the 'technological logic' to override the 'political logic', let alone allow intelligent tools to become amplifiers of erroneous ideas. Enhancing leadership today means we need to be adept at harnessing artificial intelligence, rather than being swept up by the tide of technology. We need to embed the principles of Marxist news theory into the underlying logic of intelligent communication, and equip artificial intelligence with a "compass of mainstream values". News reporting is never simply a record of information, but an observation and evaluation of social reality, implying specific positions and viewpoints. Amidst the clamor of the masses, the Party's news media must dare to wield their swords, be adept at speaking out, and use reports with strong logical power and the radiance of truth to break through the information barriers constructed by intelligent technology and achieve the "breaking circle" dissemination of mainstream public opinion. We must deeply recognize that the principle of party spirit is not only a political requirement, but also a concentrated reflection of the laws of journalism. Only by sticking to the right direction can our reporting stand firm, make a sound, and spread in the complex and ever-changing era of artificial intelligence. Adhere to the hardness of the "site": ensure the authenticity of the intelligent era with solid foot strength. The important speech on February 19th emphasized that authenticity is the lifeblood of news. In today's rapidly advancing artificial intelligence technology, this proposition is facing unprecedented challenges. When intelligent models can mass produce content products based on "data feeding", the authenticity of news will suffer from technological dimensionality reduction. We must deeply understand that the source of news is always at the grassroots level and on-site, not in cold servers and large models. Artificial intelligence can infinitely approach the perfection of logic, but cannot restore the situation on site; Computing power can exhaust the correlations of data, but cannot perceive the warmth of the human heart. We need to be wary of excessive dependence on technology and a tendency towards technological laziness, which will lead to news reports being far away from the scene and the truth. The reporter's feet can only be stepped on in the soil, and only by delving deep into fields, factories, and workshops can they obtain first-hand materials with dew drops and steam. No artificial intelligence can replace the reporter's' presence '. Faced with the proliferation of deepfakes and false information, only "on-site" is a powerful weapon to shatter rumors. We should treat the news scene as a battlefield for public opinion struggle, and through solid frontline investigations, use irrefutable facts to clarify fallacies and distinguish right from wrong. This is the fundamental way to enhance the credibility of news. If one loses their "foot power" and becomes addicted to human-computer dialogue and screen deduction, news work will lose its foundation, and there will be no guidance or influence. Highlighting the warmth of "humanity": penetrating the coldness of machines with the "pen power" of blending reason and emotion. The Chinese news industry has a profound cultural heritage and unique spiritual tradition. Unlike the so-called objectivism in Western journalism that overly emphasizes "zero degree emotions," China's journalism practice has always emphasized the integration of reason and reason, advocating the integration of patriotism and humanistic care on the basis of respecting facts. This kind of spiritual core, which originates from the excellent traditional Chinese culture of "harmony between heaven and man" and "using literature to convey messages", can never be simulated by machines. AI can write grammatically perfect press releases, but cannot write touching stories; It can list boring data, but it cannot convey the power of spirit. The key to enhancing influence is to regain the "human touch" of news. In the tide of intelligence, we must cherish and polish our 'writing skills' even more. A pen, which not only records facts, but also conveys emotions and consolidates consensus, can possess power that surpasses thousands of troops and horses. We need to learn to inject emotional warmth into our reports, vividly depict the great practices of the people, and tell the spiritual code behind China's stories. This kind of reporting, full of "fireworks" and "human touch", is a bridge connecting the hearts of the Party and the people, and also a unique advantage for Chinese media to tell China's story well in the international public opinion arena and enhance international communication capabilities. We need to use cultural resonance to counter the coldness of technology, so that news works not only have click through rates, but also have infectious and penetrating power. Expand the depth of 'change': systematically reshape the new ecology of all media communication. The important speech on February 19th pointed out the need to promote integrated development. Standing at a new historical starting point, integrated development has entered a deep-water zone and a critical period. The future competition in news is a collaborative battle between the human brain and the digital brain. We need to cultivate a team of all media and expert talents who not only have a firm political stance and profound business skills, but also understand and apply technology. We need to use big data to analyze audience needs and achieve precise communication; Utilize artificial intelligence to assist in content production and unleash the productivity of editing. But no matter how technology empowers it, people are always the core subject of news production, and their judgment, creativity, and political screening abilities are irreplaceable. We should take the spirit of the important speech on February 19th as a guide, neither be complacent nor lose direction, effectively improve the Party's news and public opinion dissemination, guidance, influence, and credibility, make the main theme louder in the era of intelligence, make positive energy stronger in the cyberspace, and provide strong public opinion support for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Looking back ten years, the cycle of technological change is becoming shorter and shorter, but the power of truth to penetrate time is becoming stronger and stronger. Standing in the context of generative artificial intelligence reshaping the global communication ecosystem, we revisit the spirit of the important speech on "2.19", and the biggest inspiration is that it has established the subjectivity of "human" and the dominance of "Dao" in the tide of technology for us. In the future of human-machine symbiosis, the core competitiveness of news and public opinion work will no longer be simply information distribution efficiency, but value judgment based on party principles, insight into the truth deep into the scene, and empathy and infectiousness based on humanistic feelings. In the era of intelligence, we can have the most advanced algorithms, but we cannot lose the most fundamental structure; We can exhaust the boundaries of data, but we cannot blur the bottom line of value. The core of the 48 character responsibility and mission established in the important speech of "2.19" is not only to teach us how to "run a newspaper", but also to teach us how to "establish a heart". At present, the systematic transformation of mainstream media is imminent, which is not only an iteration of technology, but also a profound self revolution. We must dare to break through old rules and regulations, reconstruct production processes and organizational structures that are suitable for the intelligent era, make advanced technology the engine driving change, and make mechanism innovation the source of vitality. We need to embrace 'smart change' and empower the all media communication system with AI; We must be more cautious of "qualitative changes" and build a mainstream value "anchor" in the rapidly changing ocean of algorithm recommendations and artificial intelligence. The road is simple, and practical work is essential. We will reorganize our equipment before setting off, but the ultimate goal must return to the fundamental political task of "winning people's hearts". In the code world constructed by algorithms, information can be computed, but what the human heart needs more is to be inspired; Traffic can be generated, but trust requires more accumulation. In the face of the noisy public opinion, we must, guided by the spirit of the important speech on February 19th, perfectly integrate the fine traditions of the Party with modern communication technology. We must use vivid reports that are "stained with soil, dewdrops, and steam" to break through the algorithmic barriers of the "information cocoon"; We should use the new concept, new category and new expression of "integrating China and foreign countries" to dispel the stereotyped prejudice of western discourse hegemony, and effectively transform the largest variable of the intelligent era into the largest increment of promoting Chinese path to modernization. Ultimately, technological change is a means, and serving the people is the end goal. As long as we adhere to this original aspiration and follow the trend of the times, the Party's news and public opinion work can steadily and far-reaching in the wave of intelligence, and continue to play its due political leading role.
