The Hong Kong SAR government released estimated data from the Immigration Department on the 12th, stating that approximately 11.38 million people, including Hong Kong residents and visitors, entered and exited Hong Kong through various sea, land, and air traffic control stations before and after the Lunar New Year holiday this year (February 14th to February 23rd). After consultation with mainland departments such as the Immigration Department and Shenzhen Exit Entry Border Inspection Station, it is estimated that about 9.52 million people will enter and exit Hong Kong through various land border control points. It is expected that the peak period for land outbound travel will be on February 14th, with approximately 636000 outbound passengers, and the peak period for inbound travel will be on February 22nd, with approximately 663000 inbound passengers. The Immigration Department estimates that during the holiday period, the Luohu Control Point, Luomazhou Branch Line Control Point, and Shenzhen Bay Control Point will be very busy, with an estimated daily average of about 200000, 187000, and 156000 people entering and leaving the country respectively. During this year's Lunar New Year holiday, all ports will maintain their current customs clearance time. The Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang Port and the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge Port will operate 24 hours a day as usual for customs clearance. To ease the flow of passengers during the holiday period, the Immigration Department has reduced the number of front-line personnel on vacation in order to flexibly allocate manpower. They have also opened inspection counters, temporary counters, and passages to divert the flow of people and vehicles, and deployed additional security personnel to assist in maintaining order at the border. The Immigration Department, together with the Hong Kong Police Force, Hong Kong Customs and the MTR Corporation Limited, will also establish a joint command center at the Lo Wu Control Point, and closely liaise with mainland departments such as the Shenzhen Border Inspection Station to closely monitor the flow of people and take appropriate measures to divert and divert them, ensuring smooth flow of people crossing the border.
