Previously, the Malaysian statistics department estimated that the GDP in the fourth quarter of last year would grow by 5.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate announced this time has been adjusted upward compared to the initial estimate. The statistics department stated that the year-on-year growth rate of 6.3% in a single quarter hit the best single quarter growth performance in nearly three years. According to the adjusted GDP growth rate for the fourth quarter of last year, Malaysia's GDP will increase by 5.2% year-on-year in 2025. The Malaysian Bureau of Statistics stated that all supply side industries achieved faster growth in the fourth quarter of last year, with the service and manufacturing industries continuing to drive overall performance. On the demand side, economic growth is mainly driven by private final consumption expenditures and total fixed capital formation. Data shows that Malaysia's manufacturing industry significantly rebounded in the fourth quarter of last year, with a year-on-year growth rate increasing from 4.1% in the third quarter of 2025 to 6.1%. The growth was mainly driven by the strong performance of electrical, electronic, and optical products; The year-on-year growth rate of the service industry reached 6.3%, and all segmented industries achieved positive growth.
