The expansion of computing power has given rise to a new proposition of "computing power synergy", and the power industry is accelerating its layout

The expansion of computing power has given rise to a new proposition of 'computing power collaboration'. Yang Kun, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council (referred to as' CEEC '), discussed the new situation and challenges faced by the current power industry. The high energy consumption characteristics of computing power pose higher requirements for the power system, and it is urgent to promote the integrated development of' electricity based calculation 'and' electricity promotion through calculation 'through models such as green computing power parks and source grid load storage integration, and to build a solid energy foundation for the digital age. Yang Kun made the above statement at the 2026 Economic Situation and Electric Power Development Analysis and Forecast Meeting held on March 26. The end of computing power is electricity, and the end of electricity is energy strategy. ”According to data from the International Energy Agency, the average annual growth rate of global data center electricity consumption is 12%, which is more than four times the global average growth rate of electricity consumption. By 2025, China will have over 12 million standard racks, ranking second in the world in terms of computing power scale. According to data from China Electricity Council, the electricity consumption of China's information transmission and other service industries will increase by 17% year-on-year in 2025. Among them, the Internet and related service industries grew by 30.7%, showing a strong growth trend. In Yang Kun's view, at present, the basic trend of China's economic recovery and long-term improvement has not changed. Chinese path to modernization has been comprehensively promoted, new industrialization and the digital economy have flourished, new loads such as data centers and intelligent computing centers have grown rapidly, and industries, buildings, transportation and other fields rely on electrification to promote the realization of carbon reduction goals, putting forward higher requirements on the security, reliability, greening and intelligence of power supply. China Electricity Council predicts that by 2026, China's electricity consumption demand will maintain a steady and rapid growth trend, with the total electricity consumption in the country ranging from 10.9 trillion kilowatt hours to 11 trillion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 5% to 6%. In terms of power supply, the newly added installed capacity of new energy generation is expected to exceed 400 million kilowatts in 2026, of which the newly added installed capacity of new energy generation is expected to exceed 300 million kilowatts. By the end of 2026, the installed capacity of power generation in China will reach about 4.3 billion kilowatts, of which non fossil energy power generation will have an installed capacity of 2.7 billion kilowatts, accounting for about 63% of the total installed capacity, and the energy structure will continue to be optimized. It is worth noting that since the 14th Five Year Plan, the cumulative increase in the country's maximum electricity load has been about 350 million kilowatts, and this growth trend will be further strengthened during the 15th Five Year Plan period. The China Electricity Council predicts that the highest national unified electricity load will reach 1.57 billion kilowatts to 1.63 billion kilowatts in 2026, setting a new historical high. The rapid increase in the proportion of new loads such as data centers, intelligent computing centers, and fast charging for electric vehicles will change the traditional electricity consumption curve and further widen the peak valley difference of equivalent loads in the system. ”Yang Kun said. The outline of the 15th Five Year Plan proposes to promote the coordinated layout of green electricity and computing power. For the first time, this year's government work report also included "computer and electronic collaboration" in new infrastructure projects. Yang Kun suggested that the power industry should deepen the full chain empowerment of "artificial intelligence+". Promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence into the core business of power, carry out integration pilot projects and standard construction, and promote the transformation of the power system towards data-driven. Forward looking layout of a new model for collaborative development of computing and electricity, relying on the advantages of western wind and solar resources, constructing a "source network load storage integration" green computing power park, exploring the direct supply mechanism between computing power centers and new energy power stations, and reducing energy costs. Strengthen the connection between computing power load and power grid planning, enhance source load interaction and risk prevention, and consolidate the foundation of intelligent economic energy.
