The resilience of the industrial chain attracts multinational enterprises to root in China

In the special feed protein production workshop of multinational enterprise Louis Dreyfus Group located in Tianjin, tons of beige soybean meal are processed through highly automated production lines and multiple steps to be transformed into bags of special feed protein, which are continuously transported out. This production line, which was put into operation in November last year, is the first special feed protein production line of Louis Dreyfus in the world. It mainly produces enzymatic hydrolyzed protein and other special feed proteins, with an annual production capacity of 60000 tons. In the past three months of production, customized products have covered various feed application directions such as poultry, pigs, and aquatic products, and have established cooperative relationships with about 20 customers worldwide. Tianjin has world-class port infrastructure and advanced warehousing and logistics networks, providing great convenience for enterprises to import raw materials and distribute products. Our cooperation with local agricultural and food enterprises further enhances the resilience of enterprise supply chains. ”A few days ago, Chen Jiayuan, the CEO of Louis Dreyfus Group's North Asia region, made a special trip to Tianjin to promote enterprise expansion. In his view, China's highly resilient industrial chain provides unprecedented development opportunities for multinational enterprises. Chen Jiayuan said that in the future, this multinational agricultural product enterprise will continue to extend its original primary processed products downstream and continue to increase its presence in the Chinese market. In recent years, a highly resilient industrial chain has become an important attraction for multinational corporations to expand their presence in China. Aerospace companies, as representatives highly dependent on the global industrial chain, have voted with their feet and heavily invested in China. Last October, Airbus' second A320 series aircraft assembly line in China and Asia was put into operation in Tianjin. This marks that the company has established 10 final assembly lines for this model globally, and China's production capacity will account for one-fifth of the world's total. Airbus CEO Fu Li stated that this demonstrates Airbus' confidence in the thriving Chinese aviation market, strong and stable Chinese supply chain, and high-quality business environment. At present, there are about 200 suppliers in China supporting the production of Airbus civil aircraft, covering the entire upstream and downstream industry chain, which means that all Airbus civil aircraft models have components produced in China. The stable aviation industry ecosystem in China enables Airbus to supply globally from China and contribute to the development of the global aviation industry. According to Airbus, approximately 25% of the aircraft assembled in Tianjin in 2024 were delivered to overseas airlines. Christoph Schlumberger, General Manager of Airbus Tianjin Delivery Center, stated that aviation products themselves are globalized products, and enterprises can only survive and operate by relying on the global supply chain. Airbus is confident in the booming Chinese aviation market, and will actively promote related enterprises to continue to settle in Tianjin in the future. Boeing Composite Materials Co., Ltd., also rooted in Tianjin, supplies nearly half of its production materials from domestic manufacturers. Tianjin Boeing's products are also renowned for their ultra-high safety and quality levels in Boeing's global supply network. Marcus Williams, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Tianjin and Deputy General Manager of Tianjin Boeing Composite Materials Co., Ltd., said that the current global supply chain has shifted from "extreme lean" to "balancing resilience and efficiency". Convenient customs clearance, unified supervision, and cross-border collaboration are important guarantees for building resilience in the industrial chain. China has a relatively complete aviation industry chain system, and its open and inclusive market environment makes it a place for long-term investment. At the Tianjin 2026 Multinational Enterprise Roundtable held a few days ago, many attendees expressed that regional collaboration and cross-border cooperation will be the key to building the next generation of industrial chains, and China's outstanding performance in this field will attract more multinational enterprises to invest in China. China is highly attractive to global investors in a complex international environment. ”At the meeting, Zhu Lili, Chairman of First Eastern Investment Group, stated that taking Tianjin as an example, Tianjin has high-level research and development, advanced manufacturing, and vast market elements. In the future, enterprises will increase their continuous investment in the Tianjin market and introduce more international partners to enter the Chinese market. He Zhiyi, Chief Expert of the Global Industry Research Institute at Tsinghua University, stated that every country has its own advantageous industries, and multinational enterprises can expand the cake and achieve mutual benefits through exchanges and cooperation. China provides an open and inclusive market environment and a strong supply chain system for such exchanges. Wu Hongliang, Director of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that China is the only country in the world with a complete industrial system. Foreign invested enterprises in China have a shorter time, higher convenience, and lower costs to obtain industrial chain support from upstream and downstream, and have stronger confidence and resilience in responding to changes in the global economy and geopolitical situation. During the 15th Five Year Plan period, China will continue to expand its high-level opening-up to the outside world, creating favorable conditions for multinational enterprises to invest and operate in China.
