"Artificial intelligence is reshaping medical cognition and practice, and intelligent medical innovation is promoting the transformation of medical services from 'passive treatment' to 'active health management'." At the first China Intelligent Medicine Conference and the fifth China Medical Informatics Discipline Development Conference held recently, Ji Xunming, president of Peking Union Medical College, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and an academician of the CAE Member, gave a speech, which triggered participants to think about the development path of intelligent medicine in China. Cutting edge technologies such as generative AI, digital twins, and brain computer interfaces are being innovatively applied in the entire process of medical and health scenarios, including disease prevention and control, clinical diagnosis and treatment, medical research, and surgical treatment. The outline of the 15th Five Year Plan proposes to orderly promote the application of digital intelligence technology in auxiliary diagnosis and treatment, precision medicine, health management, medical insurance services, elderly care and disability assistance, and other scenarios. Academician Hu Shengshou, Director of the National Cardiovascular Disease Center and President of Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, shared that at Fuwai Hospital, the intelligent assistance system has enabled the accuracy of medical record homepage information to exceed 95%; The AI assisted surgical evaluation model can "score" the surgical operations of surgeons, transforming the evaluation that relies on empirical intuition into evidence-based science based on data. Hu Shengshou stated that data-driven informatization, intelligence, networking, and automation are leading the high-quality development of public hospitals in regulating medical behavior, optimizing patient experience, promoting management transformation and upgrading, and enhancing grassroots disease prevention and treatment capabilities. Alongside the promotion of large urban hospitals, there is also the "digital enhancement" of grassroots medical capabilities. In stroke prevention and control, artificial intelligence is empowering the entire chain from policy formulation, medical quality control to grassroots screening; In the exploration of intelligent hypertension management platforms, the introduction of AI assistance has significantly improved the treatment and control rates of hypertension among grassroots doctors... The deep integration of technology and scenarios is also giving rise to more new applications. Zhao Qinping, chief expert of the State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and academician of the CAE Member, demonstrated the frontier exploration of the combination of virtual reality and artificial intelligence - "medical digital human body", that is, by building interactive digital organs with physiological and pathological characteristics, students can repeatedly practice in a virtual environment, doctors can "rehearse" the program before surgery, and drug research and development can also use digital models to shorten the cycle and reduce costs. Although intelligent software can improve clinical work efficiency, it is still difficult to meet real clinical needs. ”Wang Zhenchang, director of the Medical Digital Intelligence Innovation Center of Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University and an academician of the CAE Member, said that the existing AI products are mostly based on the development of a single disease. We should speed up the construction of an intelligent image system that covers all diseases and integrates doctors' workflow, and explore an approval and evaluation mechanism that is more adaptable to rapid technology iteration. The application of technology cannot be separated from the support of talents. It is reported that the construction of planning textbooks for intelligent medical engineering majors in higher education institutions across the country has made new progress. Liu Hui, Chairman of the First Textbook Review Committee and Director of the Institute of Medical Information, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, introduced that the first round of national higher education intelligent medical engineering professional textbook compilation work is anchored at the forefront of medical engineering integration, in line with teaching and industry needs, and promotes the cultivation of intelligent medical talents with rules and evidence to follow. A series of textbooks will be released one after another. Liu Dengfeng, Director of the Science and Technology Education Department of the National Health Commission, stated that the next step is to strengthen the construction of the core connotation of medical informatics and consolidate the theoretical foundation of intelligent medicine; Strengthen the research and development of core technologies, activate the innovation momentum of health and wellness technology; Empowering Healthy China through disciplinary development and promoting the application of digital technology in clinical and grassroots settings; Improve ethical policies and regulations to create a favorable environment for the innovative development of intelligent medicine.
