The first Hong Kong embodied intelligence industry summit was held in Hong Kong on the 12th, bringing together representatives from Hong Kong's government, industry, academia, research, and business sectors to discuss the development path of the embodied intelligence industry and deepen the collaborative cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland China in science and technology innovation. This summit is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Association and AGIBOT Technology Co., Ltd. It aims to establish a platform for exchange and cooperation in the Hong Kong embodied intelligence industry, promote industry technology research and development from demonstration and exhibition to real-life implementation and large-scale commercial use, and help Hong Kong build an international embodied intelligence industry highland, better leveraging its unique advantages in connecting the mainland and the world. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam stated at the summit that embodied intelligence, as an important form of interaction between AI and the physical world, has become a key engine for promoting industrial upgrading and cultivating new quality productivity. Hong Kong welcomes more potential and representative enterprises to settle in Hong Kong, making good use of Hong Kong's talent, capital, industry university research cooperation, and international connectivity advantages, accelerating technological iteration, and exploring international opportunities. He said that the SAR government will establish an AI+and Industrial Development Strategy Committee, inviting experts, scholars, enterprises, and companies in the innovation park to participate. Initially, the committee will focus on life and health and embodied intelligence, and formulate strategies for AI driven industrial transformation. The Hong Kong Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Institute will be put into operation in the second half of the year, with the goal of promoting AI upstream research and development, midstream and downstream achievement transformation, and exploring application scenarios. It will build an AI technology solution matching platform to accelerate commercialization and industrial empowerment. The Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Frederick Ma, stated that Hong Kong, as the "super contact" between the mainland and the world, has unique advantages of internal and external connectivity, openness and inclusiveness, and is the best platform for mainland science and technology innovation enterprises to enter the international market. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council will continue to optimize its service guarantees, fully assist mainland artificial intelligence enterprises in expanding overseas markets, building international brands, and promoting the globalization of China's science and technology innovation industry. In her speech, Zheng Xiangling, President of the Hong Kong Chinese Association, stated that Hong Kong boasts top universities, super science and technology innovation bases, and an open ecosystem. The transition of intelligent robots from laboratories to industries and from concepts to daily life is the most vivid breakthrough of Hong Kong's new quality productivity and new industrialization. The 2026 Smart Yuan Partner Conference (Hong Kong) will be held concurrently as an important component of the summit. Deng Taihua, founder, chairman, and CEO of Zhiyuan, said, "embodied intelligence is moving from a 'development state' to a 'deployment state', from an 'active' state to a 'capable' state. Zhiyuan's goal is not just to create robots with excellent ontology, but to turn them into advanced productivity units that can be replicated across industries, on a large scale, and deployed in all scenarios." At the summit, the "Hong Kong embodied intelligence industry co creation plan" was officially launched, synchronously launching cooperation projects such as industry university research ecological co construction, embodied intelligence innovation and entrepreneurship investment, and productivity application co creation in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, gathering multiple resources, focusing on scenario applications, talent cultivation, scientific research transformation, international cooperation, and landing a series of industrial cooperation projects.
