Recently, officers and soldiers of the Beiwan Border Defense Company of a border defense regiment of the Xinjiang Military Region welcomed several special guests - representatives of teachers from the Education Group of Tonghua No.1 Middle School in Jilin Province. They traveled over 4500 kilometers and delivered handmade items such as scarves, gloves, letters, and insoles carefully crafted by all teachers and students to the hands of the officers and soldiers. The North Bay Border Defense Company's base is known as the "Kingdom of Mosquitoes", with unbearable high temperatures in summer and up to 1700 mosquitoes per cubic meter. Winter is cold and long, and heavy snow is blown by the wind to form snow capped mountains up to ten meters high. Officers and soldiers patrol and patrol every day, tying a rope around their waist to prevent them from getting stuck in the snow trough. For over 60 years, generations of border guards have carried forward the fighting spirit of "no bitterness from mosquito bites, no loss from sacrifice and dedication, and no regret from defending the country and the border", faithfully fulfilling the sacred mission of defending the country and the border. In January of this year, the leaders of the Education Group of Tonghua No.1 Middle School led a team to Burqin County in Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang to carry out aid and education programs, and learned about the touching stories of the officers and soldiers of the company. I want students to know the stories of the defending officers and soldiers, and let them learn about heroic deeds. Seeing generations of officers and soldiers guarding every inch of the land with their youth, passion, and life loyalty, the school leaders were deeply moved. What can we do for them? ”Under the guidance of school leaders, students enthusiastically discussed and carefully planned the "Ten Thousand Miles Border Defense, Ten Thousand Miles Affection" campaign to support Xinjiang and the army. The school will combine winter labor education with military support activities, encouraging students to learn how to weave scarves and voluntarily donate them. The students actively responded and used the weekends to weave deep affection and friendship towards the border soldiers. Middle and high school students write heartfelt letters to express their high respect to the border guards. The children in kindergarten and elementary school use their spare time to create paintings full of childlike fun, exquisite greeting cards, and cute handmade works around the theme of the new era's national defense and border defense hero group. In March, the Beiwan Border Defense Company's base was covered in snow and the cold wind was piercing. Company instructor Du Yulun took out a stack of letters, and the officers and soldiers gathered around the instructor, with lines of slightly immature handwriting coming into view. Du Yulun read to everyone with deep affection, and the officers and soldiers listened attentively: "Uncle People's Liberation Army, without your sacrifice and dedication, there would be no peaceful life for us." "Looking at your cracked hands, I feel both heartache and reverence." These heartfelt letters tightly connect the hearts of teachers, students, and officials. Vice squad leader Xiong Bo said, "I didn't expect so many students to be concerned about us at the border, and my heart is particularly warm. I hope that students will study hard and contribute to the national defense cause in the future. We will definitely carry forward our fine traditions, strengthen military training and preparation, faithfully fulfill our duties of defending the country and the border, and strive to make new achievements for the party and the people." At the moment of departure, the officers, soldiers, and teacher representatives of the company solemnly agreed to do a solid job in the dual support work, continue to strengthen communication and seek more opportunities for cooperation, build the national defense education base in the northwest border, guide teachers and students to strengthen their patriotism and enhance their national defense concept.
