The European Smart Energy Expo 2026 concluded recently in Munich, Germany. As the largest energy industry exhibition in Europe, the event attracted approximately 2,650 companies from around the world, showcasing a wide range of innovative technologies and comprehensive energy solutions. Around 770 Chinese companies participated in the exhibition, making it the second-largest contingent after Germany.
Currently, the global energy market is facing numerous uncertainties, and energy transition has become a crucial aspect in ensuring energy security. At the special exhibition on “All-weather Renewable Energy,” various types of energy storage devices, energy management systems, and integrated photovoltaic-storage-charging solutions were on display, leaving visitors in awe. Through practical applications in industries, businesses, residential areas, and transportation, companies demonstrated how power generation, energy storage, energy infrastructure, and digital management systems work together to ensure a continuous and stable supply of renewable energy. Markus Elzezel, founder and CEO of the German Solar Promotion Company, believes that by relying on all-weather renewable energy supplies, we can build a more resilient energy system that safeguards energy security.
According to the report “Global Solar Market Outlook 2026-2030” published by the European Solar Industry Association, the global new solar power capacity added in 2025 reached a record high of 664 gigawatts, representing a 12% increase over the previous year and accounting for approximately 80% of the total new renewable energy capacity additions. Solar energy is rapidly emerging as a pivotal force in the global energy transition. Chinese companies showcased their latest products, including photovoltaics, energy storage, power infrastructure, as well as industry trends such as photovoltaic-energy storage integration, artificial intelligence, and system integration.
At the exhibition site, the new-generation photovoltaic-energy storage unit from Sige New Energy attracted many visitors. This product features a simple design, with intelligent charging stations and other components on the side seamlessly integrated with the unit. Yang Shunxia, the company’s global brand director, explained that the core challenge in energy storage systems lies in the coordination of multiple devices and ensuring control safety. The company’s self-developed products, through modular design and intelligent regulation, have enabled the integration of home temperature control, electric vehicle charging and discharging, solar photovoltaic power generation, and energy storage backup. This not only significantly reduces the installation barriers in complex scenarios such as apartments and balconies, but also facilitates the transition from individual device combinations to a unified, coordinated whole ecosystem for household energy use, thereby providing higher technological value to serve markets like Europe.
At Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited’s (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited) exhibition area, a meticulously crafted miniature model of a station-level energy storage plant showcased the future of the “Tianheng sodium-ion energy storage system.” This system enables an extremely simplified deployment of just 34 units for a 1-gigawatt-hour station, with flexibility in terms of storage duration ranging from 1 to 8 hours. Wu Dianfeng, chief technology officer of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.’s energy storage business unit, said that sodium resources have characteristics such as widespread availability, abundant reserves, wide temperature ranges, and long lifespans. Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. has already reached a commercial level for its sodium-ion energy storage solutions and supply chain, and will soon begin large-scale deliveries.
The flat, streamlined body, the back covered in solar panels, and the futuristic spacecraft-like design… AISUN Corporation’s booth showcased a solar racing car from the Dutch Brunel team. Equipped with AISUN solar cells, the car won the championship at the 2025 World Solar Car Challenge. AISUN Corporation introduced a fully black solar cell module product this time. Under the European residential photovoltaic standard dimensions, this ABC (full back-surface contact) module has a power output approximately 30 watts higher than that of traditional modules of the same size. Additionally, its low hot-spot temperature design further reduces the risk of fire and enhances long-term safety. Xia Hengliang, the company’s senior vice president, stated that AISUN’s ABC modules have been sold to 44 countries in Europe. “We continuously innovate and deeply understand the needs of different market customers to ensure high-efficiency and reliable product quality, thereby gaining recognition in overseas markets.”
At the booth of Vision Group Technology, large-scale miniatures showcased the concept of the next-generation power infrastructure designed for AI (Artificial Intelligence) data centers. According to reports, Vision AI’s power system is centered on its self-developed “Vision Tianji” meteorological big model and “Vision Tianshu” energy big model, with deep integration of energy operating systems and novel power infrastructure such as solid-state transformers, direct current power supply, and intelligent cabinets. This system provides a clean, stable, and efficient next-generation power infrastructure for AI data centers. Zhang Lei, Chairman of Vision Group Technology, stated, “The profound integration of new energy and artificial intelligence is making the creation of a sustainable, intelligent, and inclusive new power system a reality. We aim to transform abundant wind and solar resources into green electricity and green computing power, thereby promoting green development.” During the exhibition, Vision Group Technology reached agreements with several European companies for energy storage collaborations, with the first Gen 8 long-duration energy storage project set to be implemented in Germany.
“China’s technological advancements and large-scale development in the field of renewable energy have provided a more efficient path for the global energy transition, and Europe has also benefited from this,” Markus Elzser told reporters. “There is great potential for cooperation between China and Europe. We should continue to maintain open and cooperative relations and build a more balanced and mutually beneficial partnership.”(Outlook New Era)
