As summer approaches, cross-border tourism in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area is on the rise, and the passenger flow at the Gongbei Port, which is connected to Macau by land, continues to increase. Since July, the daily average number of inbound and outbound passengers at Gongbei Port has exceeded 310000.
Currently, a series of events such as the Macau International Children's Art Festival are being held, and several large-scale concerts are also about to be held, attracting a large number of mainland tourists to embark on cross-border journeys. Whether it's parent-child strolling, watching performances, or shopping for tourism, Gongbei Port is the "first stop" for many tourists on their journey to Australia. The reporter learned from Gongbei Customs that in the first half of this year, the total number of inbound and outbound passengers at Gongbei Port has exceeded 64 million, an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year, with the highest daily passenger flow reaching 460000.
To cope with the peak summer passenger flow, Gongbei Port has deployed manpower in advance, optimized spatial layout, and provided on-site zoning guidance. Develop a customs clearance guarantee plan for various cultural and artistic exhibitions and performances in Macau, and strengthen inspections and scheduling during peak passenger flow periods. At the same time, we will continue to deepen the construction of the smart travel inspection system, innovate the application of intelligent inspection equipment, intelligent map review and other "contactless customs clearance" technology, and transform the "hard power" of smart supervision into a "soft experience" for law-abiding passengers to travel smoothly.
Customs reminds that the peak daily outbound passenger flow at Gongbei Port occurs from 8:00 to 13:00, and the peak inbound passenger flow occurs from 16:00 to 21:00. It is recommended that passengers pay attention to port dynamics in a timely manner, plan their round-trip travel in advance, arrange their travel time reasonably, and pay attention to off peak travel.
