On the morning of July 15th, the Central Office for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences held the unveiling ceremony of the Hong Kong and Macao Research Center in Beijing and released relevant research results. Xia Baolong, Director of the Central Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office and Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and Gao Xiang, President and Party Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, attended the event.
The Hong Kong and Macau Research Center is a research platform established by the Central Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office to support the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in actively leveraging its role as a national high-end think tank and comprehensive research advantages. The center aims to strengthen research, interpretation, and publicity of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourse on Hong Kong and Macao work, actively build the basic theory and academic discourse system of "One Country, Two Systems", conduct in-depth research on major issues such as high-quality development of Hong Kong and Macao, continue to tell the successful practice stories of "One Country, Two Systems", and provide theoretical support, intellectual and talent support for promoting the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao, and supporting Hong Kong and Macao to better integrate into and serve the overall development of the country.
Officials from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, as well as representatives of national high-end think tanks, universities, research institutions, and other experts and scholars from mainland China and Hong Kong and Macao regions, participated in the event.
