The Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), which is equivalent to the mainland's college entrance examination, announced on the 15th the results of its 2026 candidates, with over 15900 candidates meeting the minimum requirements for admission to Hong Kong universities.
According to data from the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, there were over 56800 candidates taking the diploma exam this year, including over 10700 self-study students in addition to current high school graduates. The overall performance of the candidates in the four core subjects of Chinese, English, Mathematics, and Citizenship and Social Development is stable.
Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao sends encouragement and blessings to the candidates. He said that regardless of whether candidates choose to continue their studies, enter the workplace, or explore new directions, he believes they can all play to their strengths in different positions.
