Xiamen, October 29th (Xinhua) -- The 17th Cross Strait (Xiamen) Cultural Industry Expo and Trade Fair kicked off on October 29th in Xiamen. The exhibition gathers over a hundred skilled craftsmen from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, launching special exhibitions on the inheritance of Fujian and Taiwan folk art, as well as exhibitions showcasing high-quality crafts from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Craftsmen from both sides of the Taiwan Strait compete on the same stage, make friends through art, and work together to safeguard China's excellent traditional culture.
Jianzhan, lacquerware, glass, bronze carvings... At the Taiwan Master Craftsmanship Museum, the dazzling array of cultural and creative works has attracted many viewers to stop and admire. Taichung lacquerware master Wu Shufa has been exhibiting his works in Xiamen for ten consecutive years. The craftsmanship of both sides of the Taiwan Strait is interconnected. Mainland lacquerware has an ancient charm, while Taiwanese lacquerware integrates modern aesthetics, each with its own strengths, "said Wu Shufa." In recent years, there have been many innovations in cultural and creative industries in mainland China. We hope that craftsmen from both sides can learn from each other, polish lacquerware works that are loved by the public, and better inherit the art of lacquerware

According to Ye Zhicheng, the President of the Taiwan Craft Alliance, the Taiwan Master Craft Museum gathers 24 Taiwanese craftsmen and exhibits covering various fields such as crafts, art, tea utensils, sculpture, etc. "We have participated in the Cultural Expo many times, on the one hand to visit, learn, and meet old friends, but more importantly, we hope to maintain the friendship of cross-strait craft exchange and interaction through the exhibition.
At the Fujian Taiwan Folk Art Inheritance Special Exhibition Area, teams such as Kaohsiung Shadow Puppetry Troupe, Tainan Palm Opera Troupe, Xiamen Hongyanzhuang Puppet Art Museum, and Quanzhou Jinde Puppet Art Training Center made concentrated appearances. Taiwanese technology art director Liu Yushu has brought his immersive VR puppetry works, attempting to use digital technology to open up new expression spaces for traditional culture.
In Liu Yushu's opinion, traditional Fujian and Taiwan operas such as cloth bag opera and Gezi opera can better attract young people to understand Chinese traditional culture by virtue of the advantages of 360 degree panorama and interactive narration created by VR, AR and other digital technologies.
It is reported that this year's Cultural Expo is hosted by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Administration of Radio and Television, and the People's Government of Fujian Province, and organized by the People's Government of Xiamen City, attracting exhibitors from 11 countries and 20 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions. The exhibition will continue until November 1st. Outlook New Era)
