In response to the structural changes in the current situation of drug abuse, especially the problem of the abuse of addictive substances such as narcotic drugs, seven departments including the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Security, the National Medical Products Administration, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the All China Women's Federation, and the National Narcotics Control Office have recently decided to launch a concentrated online publicity and education campaign to prevent the abuse of narcotic drugs and other addictive substances by young people nationwide from June to December 2025, and jointly issued an initiative. Currently, due to factors such as the rampant international drug epidemic, China's drug problem presents new characteristics. In recent years, some teenagers have been misled and deceived by negative information about addictive substances such as marijuana drugs, especially on the internet, due to insufficient understanding of them. This has led to the frequent abuse of addictive substances such as marijuana drugs, which can easily trigger vicious crimes and lead to incidents of accidents and disasters, seriously endangering the physical and mental health of teenagers and social security and stability. The purpose of this educational campaign is to make every effort to curb the spread of drug-related information on the internet and the illegal and criminal activities involving addictive substances such as narcotic drugs, and to educate the general public, especially young people, about the dangers of the abuse of addictive substances such as narcotic drugs. The initiative proposes that drugs such as etomidate, dexmedetomidine, and tramadol are not only used for treating diseases, but also controlled drugs for anesthesia in China. It is essential for young people to use them according to medical advice, and non-medical misuse is considered illegal drug use. Be wary of "harmless" lies and scams, and bravely say "no" in the face of temptation. At the same time, the initiative calls for active advocacy for families and society to jointly shoulder the responsibility of drug control, purify the online environment, and build a drug free iron and copper wall for the healthy growth of young people. When children experience emotional abnormalities, loss of control of behavior, and other situations, professional assistance should be provided to them in a timely manner.
