Drinking more water can prevent autumn dryness? Experts introduce the correct way to replenish water

The National Health Commission held a press conference on September 8th to introduce the relationship between seasonal solar terms and health. Yang Tao, chief physician of Guang'anmen Hospital of Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, introduced that during the White Dew solar term, the air humidity in the north decreases and the temperature difference between day and night increases. At this time, the human body is easily affected by the dry climate, also known as "dryness", which can lead to symptoms such as dry mouth, throat, and skin, and is closely related to "autumn dryness". The statement 'drinking more water can prevent autumn dryness' is not entirely correct. The core reason why dryness and evil can harm people is "insufficient body fluids". The "body fluid" in traditional Chinese medicine refers to the general term for all normal fluids in the body, including not only "water" but also other liquid substances generated by the circulation of qi and blood to maintain life activities, such as saliva, gastric juice, joint fluid, etc. On the one hand, drinking water is the foundation for preventing autumn dryness. Water is the main source of body fluids. Timely hydration can directly alleviate the problem of insufficient body fluids. The correct way to replenish water is to "drink warm water in small amounts multiple times": "small amounts" should not exceed 200ml each time; "multiple times" is generally an interval of 1 to 2 hours, but it is not advisable to drink water blindly at a fixed frequency, taking into account the amount of exercise, climate, or disease status. People with heart and kidney dysfunction should follow medical advice to control their water intake; Warm water "refers to water at 35 to 40 ℃. On the other hand, traditional Chinese medicine for preventing autumn dryness follows the principle of "nourishing yin and moistening the lungs, generating fluids and stopping dryness", and is divided into two methods: diet and traditional Chinese medicine regulation. In terms of diet, ingredients for nourishing yin, moistening the lung and promoting fluid production are recommended, such as pear or white radish boiled water, and rock sugar, hawthorn or steamed pear (pears are cored and steamed with sesame oil and rock sugar) can be appropriately added, which reminds patients with diabetes to be cautious. In terms of conditioning, it is recommended to massage two acupoints for 1 to 2 minutes every day, with a feeling of soreness and swelling. One is the Zhongfu acupoint, which can be rubbed to unblock the lung meridian and relieve dry throat and cough; Another one is Zhaohai acupoint, which can nourish yin and moisten dryness, improve dry mouth and throat.
