October 10th is World Mental Health Day, and this year's promotion theme in China is "Everyone has access to mental health services". On the eve of World Mental Health Day, the reporter interviewed Zhang Xiaoming, the director of the Department of Psychiatry at the Capital Children's Medical Center affiliated with Capital Medical University (formerly the Children's Hospital affiliated with the Capital Institute of Pediatrics). Zhang Xiaoming told reporters about the case of a 15-year-old child named Yang Yang (pseudonym). Yang Yang, who is 15 years old and studying in Suzhou, has experienced unexplained fainting several times a day. I searched around the hospital in Suzhou and couldn't find the reason. Yang Yang's parents dialed 120 and an ambulance drove all the way from Suzhou to the Capital Children's Medical Center for treatment. The doctors in the cardiology department of the Capital Children's Medical Center were unable to determine what exactly was wrong with Yang Yang, so they sought consultation from a psychiatrist. After the consultation, the psychiatrist found that Yang Yang had a huge conflict in his heart. Yang Yang comes from a family with two children. In order to provide her with a better education, her father took her to study in Suzhou, while her mother and younger brother stayed in their hometown of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. But Yang Yang didn't want to be separated from his mother. Without clarifying his future life arrangements and reaching an agreement, his father brought Yang Yang to Suzhou. A huge psychological conflict that prevents children from facing reality and relieving inner pressure can lead to fainting. ”Zhang Xiaoming analyzed and said. After two family communications with Yang Yang and his family by a psychiatrist, Yang Yang's internal stress conflicts were relieved and he soon stopped fainting. Zhang Xiaoming said that many hospitalized children, such as those with leukemia, lupus erythematosus and other diseases, not only suffer from physical illnesses, but also have problems such as depression and anxiety. However, when treating physical illnesses, many psychological issues are ignored by anxious parents. According to Zhang Xiaoming, symptoms such as headaches, convulsions, sensory abnormalities, and fainting in neurology, recurrent abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite in gastroenterology, difficulty breathing and chest tightness in respiratory medicine, palpitations, palpitations, and non exertional chest pain in cardiology, swallowing foreign objects and self injury from wrist cutting in surgical systems, after excluding organic lesions, may all be related to corresponding psychological problems in children. Based on a closely connected consultation system, hospitalized patients can apply for consultation with the Department of Psychiatry. While receiving medication for physical illnesses, there will also be services from the Department of Psychiatry, "said Zhang Xiaoming. It is reported that in the past year, the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at the Capital Children's Medical Center has consulted and treated more than 300 sick children. Zhang Xiaoming said that "treating both body and mind together" is not difficult in itself, and the main problem at present is the lack of a professional team. The increase in professional knowledge related to mental and psychological aspects among doctors in other departments can help alleviate the problem of a shortage of professional teams. At present, the Capital Children's Medical Center has established a training platform for children's psychological professional abilities, with many non psychiatric doctors participating. The purpose of this platform is to enhance the sensitivity of medical personnel in early identification of children's psychological problems, making frontline medical personnel the forefront station for discovering children's psychological problems, and thus early detection and intervention.
