How to go from 'want me to be healthy' to 'I want to be healthy'

Recently, the 5th China Health Lifestyle Medical Conference was held in Beijing. This conference is jointly organized by the National Cardiovascular Disease Center and the Chinese Journal of Circulation. Representatives and guests from hospitals, universities, research institutions, and other sectors gathered together to discuss the lifestyle of the "active health" era. According to research by the World Health Organization, an individual's health and lifespan are 60% dependent on their lifestyle. Currently, chronic non communicable diseases have become the primary public health issue affecting people's health. ”Zheng Zhe, Deputy Director and Party member of the National Health Commission, stated at the meeting that in order to effectively address the challenges of chronic disease prevention and control, the National Cardiovascular Disease Center established the Healthy Lifestyle Medical Center in 2020, which has played an important professional support role in cardiovascular disease prevention and control and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Hu Shengshou, Director of the National Cardiovascular Disease Center and President of Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, introduced at the meeting that the medical community widely recognizes two basic facts: unhealthy lifestyle is the main pathogenic factor for chronic diseases; The traditional disease prevention and control model has failed to effectively change people's unhealthy lifestyles. Despite the popularization of health knowledge for many years and the continuous advancement of modern medical technology, people still find it difficult to break free from the constraints of bad habits. Hypertensive patients know that their unhealthy lifestyle affects treatment, but they find it difficult to change; The high relapse rate of patients with acute myocardial infarction after quitting smoking reveals that the cultivation of a healthy lifestyle cannot rely solely on preaching, but also requires systematic ecological construction. Wang Yangming has a famous saying: 'To know but not to do is to not know.'; Without knowing, one can come to know. ”Hu Shengshou said that cultivating a healthy lifestyle is actually a process of "knowledge practice belief". Only by truly understanding, recognizing, and taking action can we gradually form good health habits. At the level of 'knowledge', the first step is to bridge the cognitive gap. Hu Shengshou stated that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the strategic policy of China's medical and health care industry has shifted from "treating diseases as the center" to "health as the center", but the implementation of the concept requires the joint efforts of the government, professionals, and individuals. He emphasized that a healthy lifestyle is not "taught", and traditional "expert style" health education is only a one-way knowledge transmission with limited effectiveness. Professional knowledge must be transformed into behavioral guidelines that the public can understand, be willing to do, and persist in. Especially starting from children, good habits developed in childhood can benefit a person for life. This requires the joint efforts of the whole society to build a supportive environment and cultivate healthy lifestyles among young people. At the level of 'action', we need to create a closed loop of 'evaluation intervention execution feedback'. Hu Shengshou stated that evaluation is the first step in developing a healthy lifestyle. Technologies such as wearable devices and artificial intelligence can help people understand their lifestyle habits and physical condition, predict health risks, and generate personalized improvement plans. Future assessments should go beyond existing knowledge and use data to showcase potential risks that cannot be seen in the present; Through cross disciplinary and integrated innovation in medicine and engineering, visualize invisible bodily functions; Reconstruct the perspective and different dimensions of "health" through real-time monitoring of vital signs without sensation. Through the continuous cycle of "evaluation action re evaluation", knowledge will gradually be transformed into beliefs, so that we can truly understand it with "reason", integrate it into "heart", and see it in "action". Building a closed-loop system of 'evaluation intervention execution feedback' requires sustained efforts from the entire society and every individual, and cannot be achieved overnight. ”Hu Shengshou stated that promoting the public from "recognizing the need to change" to "being able to change behavior", and then to "wanting to change thinking", transforms a healthy lifestyle from a "necessity" at the knowledge level to a "necessity" in action, and ultimately becomes a "necessity" in belief. This requires all sectors of society to do their part: the government needs to create public policies and environments that are accessible, visible, and sustainable; Professionals should provide accessible and sustainable health services; Social institutions and enterprises should incorporate health into social and commercial norms, forming a positive ecological cycle; Big data and artificial intelligence should be deeply involved in empowering ecological construction, allowing healthy lifestyles to be naturally developed.
