On December 27th, it was learned from China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) that China's first nuclear medical demonstration base, the Phase II project of the Huguan campus of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (Nuclear Industry General Hospital), has been officially launched, taking a crucial step towards promoting the development of the entire nuclear medical industry chain in China. Nuclear medicine is an important direction for the application of nuclear technology. The Phase II project of Huguan Hospital integrates precision diagnosis and treatment of nuclear technology, clinical trials, medical innovation, and training and exchange functions. It focuses on key areas such as nuclear medicine, cancer, and chronic disease prevention and treatment, and builds a full system nuclear medicine demonstration base with four core functions: "precision diagnosis and treatment of nuclear technology, clinical trials of nuclear technology, innovation of nuclear technology medicine, and training and exchange of nuclear technology". It has become a national level highland for promoting the research and development, clinical transformation, and talent cultivation of nuclear medicine technology. Traditional hospital expansion mainly involves increasing beds and space, but the Phase II project of Huguan Hospital is an innovative ecosystem built around nuclear medicine. We not only need to focus on the disease, but also develop better therapies. For example, if a clinical doctor presents a difficult diagnosis and treatment problem, the base experts can collaborate with partners to develop new drugs and devices, and then validate them in our clinical trial center.
