On January 18th, the founding ceremony of the Sleep Preventable Diseases Scientific Committee of Beijing Silver Hair Health and Longevity Research Institute was held in Beijing. The committee aims to gather multidisciplinary forces to systematically study the relationship between sleep and the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, promote the shift of sleep medicine from "passive medicine" to "active health", and assist in the "Healthy China 2030" strategic goals. Currently, sleep health is an important public health issue in China. Data shows that over 300 million people in China suffer from sleep disorders, with a sleep problem incidence rate of approximately 57% among the adult population. Sleep disorders are closely related to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cognitive dysfunction and other chronic diseases. In this context, the Beijing Silver Hair Health and Longevity Research Institute initiated the establishment of a Sleep Science Center and a Sleep Preventable Disease Scientific Committee. The committee has gathered authoritative experts in the field of sleep medicine in China. Professor Liu Chunfeng, Director of the Department of Neurology at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, serves as the Chairman, while Professor Meng Fansu from Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Professor Chen Kaibing from Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine serve as Vice Chairmen. The committee will strive to establish a sleep health standard system, promote scientific research collaboration and achievement transformation, and provide scientific evidence-based support for industrial development. Wang Guangliang, President of Beijing Silver Hair Health and Longevity Research Institute, stated that the establishment of the committee is a positive response to the relevant goals of the national "15th Five Year Plan" and is also in line with the work deployment of strengthening sleep psychological services in the health system. It marks a systematic and organized step for China in the field of sleep health prevention. On the same day, the "National Sleep Technology Innovation Cooperation Network" was officially launched. This network is led by the Sleep Science Center, jointly initiated by medical institutions, research units, and leading enterprises, aiming to build an open innovation platform integrating industry, academia, research, and medical care, and to connect the sleep technology transformation chain. The first batch of members includes multiple hospitals and technology companies. During the conference discussion, experts pointed out that it is crucial to elevate sleep issues to the level of a "preventable disease" in public health strategies. The combination of traditional Chinese medicine wisdom and modern technology, the promotion of collaborative diagnosis and treatment models between Chinese and Western medicine, and the full cycle health management based on intelligent monitoring and dataization are important directions for innovative development in the field of sleep health in the future. The establishment of the Scientific Committee on Sleep Preventable Diseases and related collaboration mechanisms is expected to further integrate industry resources, consolidate development consensus, inject new momentum into the standardized and scientific development of China's sleep health industry, and ultimately benefit the improvement of the overall health level of the people.
