Continuously promote the healthy and orderly development of camping tourism, leisure, and leisure activities

Increasing the supply of high-quality tourism resources such as camping and meeting the personalized needs of young people is a practical measure to build a "youth friendly city" and cultivate new forms of consumption. Only by making the development rules of camping economy clearer can we guide the industry from the "internet celebrity" model to the "long-term celebrity" model. This not only helps to solve the current development problems faced by the camping economy, but also clears the obstacles for the industry to cultivate brands, achieve scale and chain development, and better integrate into the urban leisure service system. When camping sites accelerate from spontaneous construction to standardized systems, a healthy and orderly camping ecology is just around the corner. Camping is a popular outdoor leisure activity among young people nowadays. How to make the "camping economy" better carry the beauty of "poetry and distant places"? Recently, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and relevant departments have drafted the "Beijing Tent Camping Site Management Measures (Draft for Comments)" and are actively soliciting opinions from the public. The new regulations make it clear that the maximum carrying capacity of tent campsites should be scientifically verified according to the space capacity and environmental capacity, and the tent layout should be reasonably planned. The tent campsites that provide night accommodation are required to be manned 24 hours a day. In case of yellow and above warnings in rainstorm, the service should be stopped immediately and tourists should be advised to return. This move will further strengthen the standardized management of tent camping sites in Beijing, establish a strong safety line, and promote the healthy development of the tent camping industry. A green field, a canopy, a tent, a table of delicious food... Three to five friends enjoy a rare and pleasant breeze. Urban camping, characterized by "traveling at home" and getting close to nature and wilderness, has become a new favorite among young urbanites in recent years, gathering various features such as ecological sightseeing, family gatherings, and leisure sports. The industrial chain and complete business models generated by it have played a significant role in promoting the entire cultural and tourism consumption field, as well as the urban economy, and have brought comprehensive improvements. According to data from China Economic and Social Council, the core market size of China's camping economy is expected to reach 248.32 billion yuan by 2025. More notably, the overall market size of transportation, catering, equipment, and other industries driven by camping is expected to reach as high as 1.44 trillion yuan. At present, there are nearly 200 tent camping sites in Beijing, covering various formats such as agricultural culture, ecological research, sports exploration, ecological health, music and art, forming a diversified and distinctive development pattern. Tent camping, as an emerging form of tourism, has been highly sought after by many people. However, in the process of development, it has exposed problems such as non-standard site selection, inadequate safety management, insufficient ecological protection measures, and uneven service quality. These problems have constrained the healthy and orderly development of the industry, and it is urgent to regulate and guide them through special management measures. The draft for soliciting opinions released this time not only clearly defines the management scope of tent camping sites and effectively solves the problem of vague management boundaries, but also regards strengthening safety management as one of the core tasks. By building a comprehensive safety management system that covers basic safety production management, public security management standards, forest fire prevention and fire and electricity safety, flood prevention and extreme weather response, emergency rescue support, and other dimensions, we aim to achieve all-round supervision. The profound significance of formulating management measures for tent camping sites lies in opening up new paths for the healthy development of camping economy through active policy guidance and standardized institutional supply. Only by making the development rules clearer can we guide the industry from the "internet celebrity" model that pursues short-term traffic to the "long-term celebrity" model that relies on word-of-mouth and repeat purchases. Standardized management not only solves current hidden dangers, but also clears obstacles for the industry to cultivate brands, achieve scale and chain development, and better integrate camping economy into the urban leisure service system, becoming a long-term industry rather than a temporary trend. In fact, the pace of promoting the healthy and orderly development of camping tourism and leisure in Beijing has never stopped. As early as 2023, 13 departments including the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism issued the "Opinions on Standardizing and Guiding the Development of Tent Camping Sites (Trial)", requiring the establishment of tent camping sites to adhere to the principles of ecological priority, serving the public, and rest and recuperation, advocating the establishment of a new tourism trend of caring for the environment, protecting ecology, green travel, and "invisible camping". In 2025, the local standard "Tent Camping Site Facilities and Services Specification" in Beijing will be officially implemented, which clarifies the four-dimensional protection system for campsite safety, covering site selection safety, facility safety, flood prevention safety, and emergency safety. It can be seen that the management measures formulated this time are not only a refinement and upgrade of previous measures, but also a further clarification of the responsibilities of relevant parties. Continuously increasing the supply of high-quality tourism resources, including camping, and striving to meet the growing personalized, differentiated, and multi-level tourism and leisure needs of young people is not only the essence of building a "youth friendly city", but also a practical measure to cultivate new forms of consumption. For young people who love camping, choosing a legal camping site, complying with relevant laws and regulations and safety management requirements of the operating entity, maintaining a safe distance from others when setting up tents, reserving sufficient privacy space, and obeying the arrangements of the local government and relevant management departments in case of emergencies are also the basic qualities of civilized tent camping. This is precisely the original intention of including the "Beijing Tent Camping Civilization Convention" in the draft of the management measures for soliciting opinions. After all, the mature growth of an emerging consumer industry requires joint efforts and active cooperation from all parties. Camping makes people feel that 'poetry and distance are not in the ends of the earth'. As tent camping sites accelerate from spontaneous construction to standardized systems, a healthy and orderly camping tourism and leisure ecology is within reach. (New Society)
