The reporter recently learned from the Food Evaluation Center of the State Administration for Market Regulation that the proportion of domestically registered special medical formula foods has increased from 49% in 2020 to 88% in 2025. Previously imported categories such as tumor nutrition formulas and thickening components have gradually shifted to domestic registration and listing, with the market size increasing from 7 billion yuan in 2020 to 23 billion yuan in 2024, with an average annual compound growth rate of over 25%. In 2025, special medical food applicable to children with rare diseases such as methylmalonic acidemia (the incidence rate is less than 1/100000) will be approved for registration and listing, so as to achieve a breakthrough in domestic products in this field and effectively guarantee the "life ration" of minority special groups.
