On the 27th, the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention and 14 other departments jointly released the "National Action Plan for Scientific and Precise Prevention and Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (2026-2030)", proposing to refine comprehensive prevention and control measures for iodine deficiency disorders and water source high iodine hazards by 2027, optimize the iodine content standards for residents' edible salt, and establish targeted iodine supplementation programs for different regions and populations. The plan also specifies that by 2030, the ability to prevent and control iodine deficiency disorders and waterborne high iodine hazards will be further consolidated and improved, the monitoring system will be further improved, and the iodine nutrition evaluation and treatment management system for current patients will be more mature. To achieve sustained elimination of iodine deficiency disorders in the population and control of waterborne high iodine hazards, the iodine nutrition level of key populations remains at an appropriate level, and the public's iodine nutrition health literacy continues to improve. The plan requires the implementation of comprehensive prevention and control measures mainly based on iodized salt in iodine deficient areas, and the supply of iodized salt that meets the iodine content standards for edible salt in the region; Regular monitoring should be conducted in areas with appropriate iodine levels to timely grasp the iodine nutrition status of the population and carry out targeted interventions; In areas with high iodine in water sources, we will continue to promote comprehensive prevention and control measures mainly focused on improving water quality, and ensure the supply of non iodized salt.
