In 2025, the number of people enjoying medical insurance benefits in China reached 8.75 billion.

The National Healthcare Security Administration released the "2025 National Medical Security Development Statistical Bulletin" on July 16. The bulletin shows that in 2025, China’s medical insurance benefits were enjoyed by 8.75 billion person-times. Among them, employees with social insurance coverage received 5.486 billion person-times of benefits, while residents with medical insurance received 3.268 billion person-times. As of the end of 2025, the total number of participants in China’s basic medical insurance reached 1.3306939 billion, with the participation rate stabilized at 95%. In 2025, the total revenue of the national basic medical insurance fund (including maternity insurance) was 3.592132 trillion yuan, and total expenditure was 3.005519 trillion yuan. The current balance of the pooled fund amounted to 525.772 billion yuan. The operation of the basic medical insurance system remains safe and stable. （Source: Liaowang New Era）
